Advice & Guides The label inside your boots will tell you about what tests they've gone through, and how they did. Here's how to decipher those labels for yourself...
Mostly happy with these boots. They look great - especially in double-black - and they have a nice 'heft' to them, making them feel secure. Early days, but they seem great quality with neat stitching, quality materials and a chunky sole.
The big problem - as other reviewers have mentioned - is that the tongue really does dig in to your ankle; specifically, on the inside, making the boots almost un-wearable due to the pain it inflicts. Its odd, because this style of tongue construction is not uncommon with walking boots, and I've never experienced this before. I suspect its related to the CE rated, re-enforced ankle protection. Thankfully, I've found a solution which is to fold the tongue under itself from the inside in such a way to remove the pressure point. I've attached a photo for anyone interested.
Overall, quality boots which look great. Just a shame about the design flaw.
Some silly young and new riders, such as myself, may avoid bulky 'unstylish' gear, but the first drop or crash could be inevitable for you. Better to keep your toes and ankles and have at least some sort of protection. The next level up for this would definitely be to get some higher ankle boots, but for small impacts, you will be better off than normal shoes. Very happy with these.
Stay safe, smooth riding.
These boots are well priced, comfortable, a good fit, sturdy construction with the protection in the right areas. Plus they look good with bike jeans.
All together I’m well pleased.
Overall a comfortable pair of boot. Good grip on road. Same complaint as everyone else- the tongue is uncomfortable against my leg
The boots were sized correctly and comfortable. I wanted a walking boot style and these fit the bill. They are sturdy and feel like a quality product. I wouldn't go trekking in them but they will comfortably get me from the bike to the cafe and back!
I have ridden in them a few times now, I have found that where the tongue connects to the lining it bunches up when you tie them up and creates a pressure point in that area which digs into my foot which is extremely uncomfortable. I've been having to twist the tongue to the side which has cured this. Maybe it's just my feet? When I've managed to cure this and ridden in them that are quite comfortable and I forget I have them on. Haven't tried them in the wet yet so I cant comment on how waterproof they are. The build quality seems quite good and they feel robust although they could be made a little lighter. Good everyday boot though
I purchased these boots specifically so can ride to walking group meeting and not carry 2 sets of boots.so far so good - good strong design and build quality - waterproof so far but not tested in heavy rain.
But comfort is the issue while riding. The boot rubs against my left heel making gear change's uncomfortable after an hours riding. They don't rub ( so far) whilst walking. The boots may 'break in' over time but they're not pure leather so I'm not certain they will improve. Happy to update review in say 3 months.
