This is my first pair of biking gloves so I don't have a point of comparison. If you wear them for a while and slightly sweat into them, it might be difficult to take off and put your fingers back in again. There is soft protection where the knuckles are but overall the gloves don't feel like they offer a lot of protection given their price.
