Oxford’s latest development aims to replicate the effects of Gore-Tex Pro for a fraction of the cost
The Oxford Mondial trousers have received mixed reviews from customers. The fit and comfort are generally praised, with the adjustable waist being a notable feature. However, several customers reported issues with waterproofing, particularly in the crotch area. Some found the leg vents ineffective and the bottoms of the trousers too baggy, causing discomfort while riding. Complaints about the thermal liner and knee armor positioning were common. Despite these issues, the trousers were appreciated for their warmth and quick-drying properties.
Warm with liner, cool without and waterproof, great product
I’m normally a 32” so took a chance on a medium which is meant to be 34” I’m glad I did as it fits ok. the small would’ve been too tight. The legs length are fine until you bend the knee on the bike and they write up leaving a gap between your boots and your leg for the wind to get in.
These have been the most comfortable riding pants I have ever owned. They are the first pants that knee armour sits on the knees as soon as you sit on the bike and no need to adjust them like other pants I have owned. The only gripe is that the bottom of the legs is extremely wide, like you used to wear in the 70's, which is good to get boots on and off but even after adjusting they are still big. But still the best I have owned and really happy with them and great service from Sportsbikeshop.
Great price
Kept me dry in rain. Not a downpour
Comfortable with some great features
I already had a pair of these trousers, they are very comfortable and waterproof so far. I just er, 'outgrew' my first pair. Great purchase and at a bargain price.
Bought after reviewing a lot of others, good quality, braces a nice addition too .
Had no rain to test but nice and warm, wales next weekend so no doubt will test with the wet stuff
I have used the Oxford Mondial trousers and jacket for 5 years. I needed to go up a sizing and although I did look at other options on the market I was very happy to purchase the gear again. I've been touring in UK / Europe in the previous set in all weather and find them robust, comfortable and very importanlty easy on the wallet.
Very pleased with the service. Excellent quality with this purchase.
Really good trousers, good fit .
I need reliable waterproof protection as I commute everyday on my bike. I've had the Mondial Jacket for a few months now with my only gripe being the collar is a bit low but it's kept me warm and dry. When my RST textile pants started failing me I bought the matching Mondial trousers. Again only one gripe being the pockets are tight and on the sides of the hips like jeans so are pretty much redundant. They are quite loose fitting which I like and are very comfortable. These are warm and keep me dry. I thought I'd hate the bib and braces (which can be removed) but I love them. They stop any drafts going up your back. I would recommend all the Mondial range so far.
I'm a big boy so I take the liner out of everything I buy and wear a merino base layer instead.
These fit completely true to size, I ordered what I'd order in a pair of jeans and they were perfect for me.
I had the pleasure of a stormy wet ride the very first day these were delivered and I got off the bike totally dry underneath.
They feel large around my boots but they dont seem to flap around at all. Construction feels high quality.
In 6c weather with a thermal layer I was sweating.
These pair trousers really worth getting, very comfy and keep me very warm when out in the winter months if don't want to break the bank and looking for a decent pair then these are great.
I'm a 38" waist, which is an XL in the Oxford size guide but I ended up needing a 3XL (42" waist). At this size, the legs are very flared at the bottom. This is partially corrected with the velcro ankle straps but the overall feel is baggy in the leg. The trousers are easy to get on and off with the liner attached. This was not the case with a number of other manufacturers. I've yet to try them below 9 degrees but they feel comfortable at this temperature. Waterproofing is as effective as the jacket, which has performed admirably in the several months I have owned it. The detachable braces work very well, with little pressure on the shoulders required to keep the trousers in place. Overall, very happy. As always, the MK staff offered excellent advice and were patient throughout my several attempts to find the right trousers,
This fit me the best out of a few adventure styles and for the money (on sale) is amazing value. The vents are very good and the thermal liner is warm and comfy and without it it's cool. The pockets could do with being placed a little more on the side as a phone in them gets squeezed between the top of your leg and your hip a bit. Long length is just right for me off the bike and doesn't ride up my ankles on the bike (I'm 32" inside leg). I haven't worn them all day in the rain but I got caught in fairly heavy rain on a ride and they kept me bone dry. Nice not to have to faff with a removable waterproof layer.
My priority for a waterproof trouser was that it was also warm - so no need to wear anything underneath other than thermals in winter (maybe), and avoid the sweatiness of over-trousers.
Unlike the matching jacket - which I purchased even though I don't need it right now - I took my own measurements and had a perfect fit. The length is spot on, and the waist adjustment allows for any discrepancy there.
They have been christened in the rain and didn't let a drop through at any point, including the seat of the pants, which is a favourite. Admittedly it wasn't an absolute downpour and the temperature was 15 degrees, so not the full test yet, but a very promising start.
The knee armour is nicely placed. The hip padding feels unusual at first, but can be removed if not wanted. Very happy so far.
When I ordered the trousers comfort and style were the top priority for me. 2nd ride out and I got an absolute drenching in heavy rain that wasn't expected. The trousers with no thermal lining kept my legs warm and dry ad a bone. Couldn't believe just how good the trousers coped with the rain. Highly recommend them, very comfey and do exactly what it says on the label.
They are wide bottom but I like that as they go over my boots very well.
I bought these to go with the matching jacket. I got smallest size available which are slightly too big, but braces mean this isn't really an issue. Good features such as zip to attach to jacket, body armour and useful pockets. They kept me dry during a torrential shower. Good price and usual excellent service from SBS.
