I bought these in black with the matching jacket and they are not the same shade of black. I contacted Oxford and they confirmed this and that they do not manufacture these items in matching shades. It's slight but it is noticeable.
Otherwise, these are generally well made and not as stiff as some laminates. There is either something of an excess of material around the ankle or an inadequate method of taking up the excess with the Velcro fastners but it causes no draught or water ingress. Great value and braces help regarding comfort. I needed more room at the top of the thigh for long periods in the saddle and these provide it. Sizing seems to be as measured which makes selection easier.
Rain and wind proof during the recent stormy weather. Sizing is the same as previous Oxford Montreal gear I have had.
Included braces are better as are ankle fastenings which have no zips to catch.
I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Bought the jacket online earlier in October. Liked it so much bought the jacket but was unsure on sizing. Used the try before you buy option SportBikeShop offers.
Needn't have worried as sizing was spot on. Looks like they will offer great wet weather performance.
Excellent service from both online and shop guys.
Really good in all conditions especially rain
The quality of these trousers is as you'd expect from Oxford. They have kept me dry in recent downpours and warm when riding home late at night. I'm disappointed with the fastening system around the ankle as it leave a lot of material flapping around.
I wore these trousers on a very wet few days in Scotland. They never let any water in, were comfortable to wear, and fitted easily over my boots with the velcro strap.
Excellent service by Sportsbikeshop arriving the next day were these Jeans at a very competetive price. Have only used them once in the dry so far but I can say the fit is perfect on & off the bike. Order to your size as they fit the correct size. Great quality textile jeans.
Really nice waterproof trousers, look good and feel comfy. Good value for money.
I àgree with the other person that the Velcro on the leg fasteners needs to be further around to get a tighter fitting around the boots and the metal fastening on the waist can be fiddly to open and close easily.
That apart these are very comfortable and very warm trousers. Haven't been out in Biblical rain as yet, but sense they will be OK. I live in CUMBRIA so I guess I won't have long to wait.
Great laminated jeans, very warm today and suprised how well leg vents worked
Firstly these are not winter riding kit as too much wind gets in, moonsoon rain or cold temps would require a one piece over the top.
With the thermal layer taken out they become much lighter and more manageable than 3 layer or fixed membrane textiles and may be the first textile i use through the summer.
There are two details that need refinement which are the bottom of the leg which is voluminous and needs the velcro moved further around the leg for a tighter fit.
And the knee armour pockets move too much and could do with velcro attached to the inside of the outer garment and the pocket in the mesh which would allow for adjustment.
Read some great reviews of the Hinterland, so bought the jacket, the back protector and the trousers for a 3 week trip to Northern Spain. We experienced temperatures from 28 to 3 deg C and blue skies to fog, sleet and snow. The trousers performed faultlessly in all conditions. Torrential rain was kept at bay. Sweltering heat cooled by excellent venting. Cold defended against with the easily removable thermal liner. The trousers are also very easy to wear being light and flexible. The braces ensured they stayed where they should and, with the wide-ish waist band, I never felt any unwanted cold drafts around my lower back. I tried to think of a negative and failed.
Looking to update from textile to laminate suit for faster drying, we live in a sometimes very wet country, but not wanting to sell a kidney to fund the branded gortex kit.
Hinterland trousers are really good, snug fit, not baggy and above all waterproof as tested on a recent trip to Germany and fast drying - no more soggy kit the next morning. No issues around stitching quality etc. Leg length and waist size are accurate.
They come with hip armour installed contrary to the description. Only slight gripe are the pockets are on the front of the hips so can be tight to get your hands in. Highly recommended - the jacket is also fantastic
Had the jacket for well over a year and its great, so when my Oxford Mondial trousers started leaking, these were the obvious choice and I have every faith they will surpass Mondial trousers in overall performance.
They are more comfortable in general, the pockets are bigger and I'm sure they will last longer. I think Oxford have gone backwards with the bottom of the trousers. I will miss is having the ability to tuck the quilted liner into my boots on wintery days, this was easily achieved on the mondial trousers because you could easily fold the lower quarter of the leg up; this also helped keep my feet dry when taking boots off in wet weather (small things make a big difference). I do struggle to get a tight fit around the ankle with the Hinterland trousers, the Velcro doesn't go around far enough which makes them a bit drafty on winter mornings. Not tested in a rain storm as yet, but if they are as waterproof as the jacket then its win win.
Well made Oxford gear. Fit well and come with knee and hip armour which is a bonus. Supplied with braces if that's your thing.
I had already purchased the matching Hinterland jacket so these trousers go perfectly with it.
Gore Tex in every way bar the label with warm thermal layer inside. The braces are a handy additional extra.
The only downside is that they are a bit too wide in the leg for my liking but that's just a personal preference.
Good quality and they look like a hard wearing material.
I've worn them on cooler days in November with liners and they kept me warm and dry. They're a good fit and I like the braces. Never thought I would, but they're removable, and the waist can be adjusted to suite
I bought a pair of Oxford Subways, they weren't waterproof, these are. Yes, they're a little baggy around the ankle, but plenty of room for you to get your boots under. The only criticism is the poppers on the front waste band, would have preferred a Velcro fastening (they have Velcro adjusters on the sides) similar to the subways, but that's just a small niggle. Braces are a bonus and they fit well.
