Founded by two brothers, Andre and Edouard Michelin back in 1889, the company now claims to be the largest tyre manufacturer in the world. The European arm of Michelin alone has over 63,000 employees, heading up the UK operation of bike tyres from its base in Stoke on Trent. Sporting a history littered with industry firsts, including the introduction of radial motorcycle tyres to MotoGP in 1989, Michelin continue to develop new technologies via the race track that are applied directly to their range of road bike tyres.
