Merlin Shenstone Air Textile Jacket - Olive

Ordered jacket to try on at Harlow store. Great service as always, the Merlin jacket is beautiful, really well finished and with D30 armour all round. Sadly I have not ridden in it yet due to our lovely weather.

Excellent quality jacket. Top quality materials used. This was a gift but if I hadn't a few jackets would of bought myself to. Nice colour.I'm a large normally and for me probably would also try an extra large just to make sure not a tight fit with layers underneath. Superb service from Sportsbikeshop as always. Arrived next day. Recommend.

Excellent quality, everything feels solid and made to last. Jacket is heavy considering it's a mesh jacket, however that is what adds to the solid feel. For this price it's not often you also get a back protector so this is another plus for this jacket.

I bought this at an excellent 'sale' price of £134.99 from Sportsbike online shop. I very pleased!

I have a 42" chest and chose a large size, which fits beautifully (why do people put their weight and height in jacket reviews and not the important chest size?).

I have a Merlin Edale jacket, also in a large and also a brilliant jacket.

Delivery and communication from Sportsbikeshop was excellent

I replaced an old leather jacket with this one. It fits me jackets from other manufacturers didn't. (I have long arms and I'm slimmer than the norm). Great for hot sunny days, looks good on both my adventure bike and my 1970 Bonnie, comfortable, plenty of pockets, vented and with a removable waterproof lining too.

Excellent jacket, lots of ventilation for hot summer days, lightweight, D3O armour as standard. Well fitting. All in all, well chuffed.

I did question the necessity to get a mesh jacket with the British summer being what it is, but when the temperature does eventually climb, this jacket is just the job. I was impressed with the fit (true to size) and quality from Merlin. I found the mesh works really well. There's even a thin liner to protect against cold mornings and evenings and the occasional shower (not tested yet!) but I wouldn't expect it to be much protection against prolonged rain.

This is the second Merlin Jacket I have bought, so first of all the jacket fits the same size as the Edale jacket (for me size S, I'm 172cm, 72kg).

About the jacket: It is well made, has nice finishes, and great overall quality. The main pro for me is the fit, it is absolutely spot on! Not too long, not too short.

Then, protection: It is an AA-certified jacket (another reason why I bought it) and it comes also with a back protector, which surprised me.

Finally, delivery: everything went flawlessly and super quick, I love that SBS includes everything in the price (shipment and customs). I had no problem buying stuff both from Italy and France.

Bought on Black Friday but as it's now winter, I've not worn it on the bike yet. The quality of the jacket seems good, though, although I notice the armour does move around in the arms and back pouches when trying it one. I'm 6'4", slim build and usually a 43-44" chest so I originally bought the XL but downgraded to an L as the larger size was quite "roomy" in the body section. Just waiting for the summer to come now!

I am 6' and a large was great

First, on the product: this jacket is absolutely amazing! The look, fit and feel on the body is just awesome; it is very cool too which is what i got it for in the 1st place. The underlayer water shield (for those summer rains) doen't take away too much of the airflow; without it, the airflow is just amazing. I wear it with my Knox Urbane gloves which are also sublime. What can I say ... I'm sorted for the summer - or what's left of it, should i rather say.

Size down advice seems about right for average Joe.
My only niggle and why 4 stars is waterproof liner. Arms seem short giving impact to outer sleeve length when fitted. Sleeves perfect length for me without liner fitted.
