You'd be surprised how many riders wear a helmet that's too big for them. Here's how to tell if a lid really fits you...
I bought an XL, which fits perfectly. The helmet is surprisingly light and, with my usual earplugs, I find it very quiet. The goggles part of the visor fits well over my glasses, but I have removed the bar/guard between the goggles/lower shield in the middle of the visor. Overall, I am really pleased with the helmet, and it looks ace .
Helmet is very light and looks good which are plus points.
However if you are purchasing this helmet in Large I'd avoid. I think the shell size simply doesn't work for large on this helmet. The visor barely clears the eyeline and the chin is only just covered by the chin guard. Looking at my reflection in the mirror the helmet looks like it simply doesn't fit. It's very unsatisfying to wear with the visor down. However the worst aspect is is the ear holes don't align at all at least to my ears causing some serious pressure which is unbearable after a few hours. If you really want this helmet and are a size large then I'd seriously recommend buying the XL and seeing how comfortable that is and going from there.
Comfortable and reasonably light
I ordered this helmet as a replacement for my Caberg Freeride which was damaged in an accident, great helmet as the outer shell was cracked but no danage to the inner or my head.
I thought the 'Ghost' looked pretty cool and was confident of the fit.
Wore it at the weekend for the first time and I must say I am really impressed by the looks, fit and lightness of the helmet, and it is also pretty quiet.
The visor doesn't fog up even in the rain and the plastic face guard certainly keeps the bugs and the rain from stinging your face. All in all I am very happy with the purchase.
Sportsbikeshop are easy to deal with and the item came well packaged
I've got a few helmets now, when this arrived it looked the part, when holding it, the lower face cover is rubber at the rest of it feels cheap, I've yet to try it out.
But on inspection alone don't bother with it.
Great helmet, very light, love the various options for the goggles, & face cover. No bugs in teeth or stones in face. suits all weather variations the British summer can throw at you in one day.
Great value great price amazing choice of gear fast delivery great place to shop
I selected this helmet because of the weight factor - it is incredibly light, and comfortable. My previous helmet was the Caberg HyperX, a modular design that features a removable chin bar. I found that I used the helmet without the chin bar for most of my riding, so the Ghost is the natural progression.
Through the years I've realised that weight and comfort is probably as important as the protection issue. I've tried various brands based on safety rating quietness etc, but even with a "quiet" helmet I still have to use earplugs, so that factor didn't apply.
The Ghost Carbon is very light. It does generate wind noise, but earplugs effectively cancel this out. I had intended taking the mask and visor off, but with the mask, the foam nose bridge and visor on it is still very comfortable, and the nose bridge and pinlock inner visor means that steaming up when stationary is not an issue. The mask is also far enough away from my face to allow airflow and give the feel of an open face. 10/10 for comfort.
Removing the visor requires a screwdriver that fits the screws well, and they are tiny. One of the heads was slightly deformed when I took the lid out of the box, and I contacted Caberg about a replacement. After a few days they responded and suggested I take it up with the retailer (Sportsbikeshop) I haven't done this yet, but have found that a new set of screws and springs can be bought for £20! Not ideal at all having paid a substantial wad for the helmet in the first place. 5/10. Because of this I've dropped a star on the overall marking.
Overall, though, the helmet is a joy to use and I'd recommend it. Probably no good for high speeds, but I don't do that anymore officer.
I already own a Caberg Flip Front Full Face Helmet, which I am very pleased with. I also own 2 "other brand" Ghost type helmets.
The Caberg Ghost, far out performs the "other brand" helmets in every detail. It's quieter, the quality and fit is far better but what does it for me is the Pinlock Insert which stops the visor steaming up.
Light weight yet sturdy, I brought the xs as I have a very small head and it fits perfectly. It also doesn't make me look like a bobble head. The carbon fibre shell looks sleek and the front of face segment doesn't feel constricting. It's also great that the pieces are removable. I feel like a baby Darth Vader in a really awesome way :)
Ordered the L as should have been the correct size. On arrival the next day it felt a little tight so I ordered the XL which arrived the next day also. Very well packaged. The XL was way to big so I sent it back and stuck with the L. The returns process was easy and efficient. I have a weird shaped head and the helmet will adjust over time. The noise levels are pretty good for a flip face and it is very light. Lovely design and the mask is easy to operate. Looks cool too. Very happy.
Lightweight and comfortable, great fit and well made. Fitted with pinlock so great in all conditions. Would highly recommend.
Very easy to lift and drop the goggles/visor.
Lovely feel inside and out.
Excellent visibility.
The helmet is very light and easy to get on and off with the ratchet connection. The only negative I have is the full front doesn't lock when you put it fully down into place.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this helmet. I wear eye glasses and this fits perfectly without pressing the frames into my face. This must be the lightest lid on the market. I would definitely recommend this.
Good looking and comfortable helmet.
I was pleasantly surprised by this helmet. It is well made and light, very light. Especially when I compare it to a Schubert and a Davida Jet. I like the fact that I can change the configuration from full to just goggles.
The goggles are excellent, they also have some ventilation, which is at the top of the goggle section, and they offer a clear view for the rider.
I like the fact I can wash the interior, although haven't needed to.
The goggles are easy to open one handed and do so with a smooth operation.
One niggle is the time it took to adjust the chin strap to make it comfortable. It would be good if Caberg extended the padding on the chinstrap and fixed it in place.
So far pleased with the purchase.
Great helmet! I love it.
At first the padding around goggles where it sits over the nose felt a bit too close as I am used to a more conventional helmet. However, I was used to it after a few minutes and it's now very comfortable.
I'd read reviews about the area around the goggles not being totally weatherproof, but I didn't feel no this to be the case. My maiden voyage with this lid may as well have been in a monsoon, and I was still dry after 2 hours of torrential rain.
The helmet flips up easily and looks great. I've only marked this as a 4 because I would have loved in internal sun visor to be built in!
