Short leather gloves are great for towns, tours and warm riding days. Here are the five key contenders…
These Klim Badlands gloves are truly remarkable. I'm a huge Klim fan and these are a great example of why. They're a premium brand and for good reason.
The fit is absolutely spot on - they are contoured perfectly, with a slight natural curve to the fingers inbuilt, meaning they sit how your hands sit just right.
The exterior stitching means they feel silky smooth inside, whilst the outside is still incredibly soft thanks to the supersoft goatskin leather.
Ventilation is great - they are fully perforated gloves, so ideal for warm temperatures. I use them on a BMW R1250RT (so decent fairing) in all weathers except winter temps really - even down to 12 degrees, with heated grips these are fine. However, they really come into their own at the other end - 28+ degree days and these are about as good a glove as you can get for breathability. I can ride all afternoon and never feel my hands are too hot or clammy.
From a protection perspective. I hope to never find out, but the armour on the knuckles and additional reinforcement on the palm (without sacrificing comfort) is reassuring.
I'm extremely pleased with these Klim Badlands gloves and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Went to SBS to try on 3 pairs of Dainese knit ‘seamless’ gloves I’d ordered in, but none of them were sufficiently seamless for extended hot weather riding when my hands get sweaty and even minor seams rub and cause sore spots. Saw these on the peg and straight off they were amazingly comfortable and light, so I bought them. Only used for local riding so far and they’re living up to initial impressions. A full 5 stars for comfort, but 4 stars overall as I’d like some of the seams to have been double-stitched. That aside, excellent for hot weather riding.
Quality product as all Klim gear. Really comfortable from first use. Works with phones which is great
The external seams and soft leather are what make this glove so comfortable. The perforations make this a cool and breezy glove, but with a high level of protection unlike most flimsy summer gloves.
Fantastic gloves and top quality. I have two other pairs of Klim gloves which are 2XL so ordered the same. These seem much bigger than my others. Unfortunately I removed all the tags before trying them on so stuffed my chances of getting a smaller pair. The glove is fairly light weight and will be perfect for summer touring. France here we come (albeit very loose…..)
Have not yet had the chance to test them fully but have never sound a pair of gloves bike or otherwise that fit this comfortably and at soft and flexible yet strong
Superbly made and comfortable-good level of protection. You get what you pay for!
Top quality gloves and fabulous service from sportsbikeshop. Very pleased again.
There is no denying that this is a very good quality product,
It is designed to be a pure summer riding glove and airflow is extremely good.
A comfortable light glove and looks good as well.
Works well with phone and satnav devices, no issues.
Finger length is slightly longer than rukkas I have had, when comparing the same size glove to each other.
The price is the price, and it is very high for what it is, although there are other gloves out there that could do the same. Id suggest its a personal thing, and important you take the time to try other brands and compare which one you feel comfortable with, don't just buy on looks or the most expensive... in the long run you'll regret not having considered as many as you can .
I have previously reviewed these gloves and did not purchase because I didn't feel they are suitable for road riding as they don't seem that well protected on the palm, and there is no double side layer, or stitching. however I am doing a desert rally, so these gloves are now perfect for this occasion
Tad pricey but a great glove, nice and cool, looking forward to testing in Africa
Great quality product, extremely comfortable with little to no break-in … very expensive but worth every penny, my go-to summer glove…
Great gloves just what is needed for summer.
Soft, beautifully made extremely comfortable fantastic airflow. But for this price they really offer very little protection by comparison to some other summer/lightweight gloves. Eg Revit Cayenne 2 and Dainese 4 stroke 2 both equally great summer /light weight gloves but with Knox sliders, double stitching and much better pinky finger protection. If you just want a light glove for off-road then these are fine. If you are doing any serious road miles aswell and want some basic palm/finger protection these don't stack up to alternative, and cheaper options unfortunately.
Very pricey for short summer gloves, but I suppose quality doesn't come cheap. Well made, flows air well, = no more sweaty palms. Cuffs could be a little longer though.
Excellent service as usual from the Sportsbikeshop.
Looking for a good vented summer glove I previously tried a pair of Klim Baja S4 - not a cheap glove in themselves. These felt fine in the shop but when riding I had a rubbing/pressure point on my left hand knuckles, so they had to go. I took the plunge and bought these as they are said to have more comfortable knuckle protection - but at not far off twice the price of the S4! Have been wearing them in the recent high temps and they have been great - comfortable and well vented. No knuckle problems at all. Since they are very much a hot weather glove I trust they will last a long time and I can forget about the price....as others have said, a quality item, highly recommended.
These gloves are not cheap but you get what you pay for I guess! The fit is excellent and the quality of materials used is exceptionally high. The finger seems are all outer stitched which adds to the comfort when wearing! Theses are a summer glove so not waterproof but more than adequately vented for good air flow! Well protected for a summer short glove and some nice little touches like the pull loops for easy putting on and the soft leather wrist trim! All in all a quality bit of kit!
Nothing bad to say about these gloves so far, apart from the excruciating price considering they're summer gloves, but I was well aware of that when I ordered them so can't complain. Appear to be extremely well made, very comfortable with the external stitching, the perforations are a lot bigger than other summer gloves I tried so they allow a lot of airflow, great for warm weather. I'm on a bike with handguards and 15 C commuting was fine, no handguards and they may not have been warm enough. Touchscreen fingers work well. Time will tell if they're worth the money but they're leather so providing they're properly cared for they should last. They look great too
