If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Haven't leaked worn for a season. They don't come with a liner and I feel they haven't designed them to accommodate a liner. The waist digs in my stomach even though I don't have a big belly. So I have to leave them a bit unzipped. Very hard to get passed my bum especially if I have thermals on. Because they're laminated and don't have any stretch they are rigid and due to the waterproof pockets they are hard to close, I end up using both hands. Find the pockets too deep. I like the thigh pocket for my phone. Went for the long they're too long should have gone regular in 6 foot 32 inch imseam. Find the knee armour doesn't cover the outside of the knee they tend to rotate inwards when on the bike. Need refining.
I ve been riding in the Klim Marrakesh trousers for a few weeks now and they re by far the most comfortable bike trousers I ve worn. The stretch fabric moves really well on and off the bike, and the airflow is brilliant for something that looks solid ideal for spring and early summer rides.
They ve got a casual look too, which I like when I m off the bike, but still feel tough and well made. Armour sits nicely and doesn t shift around. Not waterproof, obviously, but for dry days or layered over something light, they re absolutely spot on. I d happily wear these all day - and do when it's a causal wear day at the office and I've commuted in.
These are my go-to trousers when it's above about 15 degrees until it's in the high 20's and I switch into my Klim induction kit for full mesh.
Being somewhat long of leg I often struggle to find trousers that fit; many brands assume as leg length increases, waist size balloons! Not the case with these from Klim. Great fit that allows for movement both on and off the bike.
The most comfortable bike trousers I've ever worn. They could only be improved if they were really waterproof not just shower proof.
Bought 2 days before a 10 day trip to Spain/Portugal on a whim.
Arrived within 24 hours of order placement, Size 36/reg fitted perfectly around the waist but 32in length was about an inch to long for me but was easily remedied with some double sided tape & never caused an issue the whole trip.
Comfortable/breathable & overall very pleased with my c choice.
It's Klim - so you know it's going to be both expensive, but generally extremely high quality. These Marrakesh trousers are no exception.
The fit is generous - I am a 36 waist and take an XL which are a fraction large round the waist for me but this allows for under layers if I want them, so I'm happy. Generally though, Klim to fit for an 'american' physique so you should expect that on all their gear. The leg length feels just a fraction long for me, but when sat on the bike, it ensures a good cover over the boot so they don't ride up. I'd not want them any shorter I don't think.
The quality of the trousers is very high indeed - all the stitching is extremely sturdy, and the cut is absolutely spot on.
Comfort wise, this is where they come into their own. I cannot express how comfortable these are - they are like wearing tracksuit bottoms: I'm not exaggerating. The material is soft and stretchy - I have no idea how these are rated so highly in abrasion tests but it must be some kind of magic. The armour is essentially invisible being D30 ghost - you really can't tell it's there.
Temperature wise (and why most of you are looking at these) these trousers are again, exceptional. I use them in temperatures ranging from around 12 degrees up to (so far) 28 degrees for all day riding. Below 16 degrees I wear a Klim baselayer but at 17 or above, these keep you warm enough. Above 20 degrees and they really come into their own. They're like wearing a mesh but without the mesh - I'd say they're around 60-70% airflow of the Klim Induction (which is of course a FULL mesh). I currently ride a 1250RT so have a lot of fairing - these are absolutely perfect. I just pop a knee out into more airflow if I'm getting warm, and the fabric does its magic.
These are absolutely my 'go to' trousers wherever possible.
In summary, if you're considering these, stop. You've found what you're looking for. These are 3 season trousers that really will do it all. Stop procrastinating and get them bought,
I bought these as I have a matching jacket. They are a great fit not too tight. Great design and most of all keep you cool on those few and far between UK hot days. As always a quality product from Klim.
Quality product as all Klim gear. Lightweight. Great fit. Thought the Armor had not been fitted it was that discreet. Great summer riding purchase
I bought these trousers to go with the Marrakesh jacket I bought a year ago but couldnt get the long trousers at the time. I normally take 38 waist but 38 in these was too big so got a pair of 36 which fit perfectly. Free shipping and returns made this process painless. Unfortunately the weather is not warm enough to need this mesh kit yet, even in Spain! But from the experience I have had with the jacket I am very sure the trousers will do a great job too!
I needed to replace some aged Summer trousers and having heard lots of rave reviews of Klim Marrakesh I thought I'd give them a try. They fit my stumpy legs really well, the stretch built into them makes them so comfortable. Venting is fantastic compared to my previous mesh trousers so I'm very happy with these. I've got the jacket on order and due to Klim availability I'll have a bit of a wait, but I know it'll be worth it.
Bought these trousers for warm weather riding. Had tried a half dozen other brands which claimed to be vented etc but were far too hot when off the bike! These pants are like wearing ordinary jeans but much safer! Bit more expensive but worth the extra bit.
I would definitely buy these again and would recommend!
I have the Marrakesh jacket and love it. The trousers are the same material and very comfortable.
Klim quality
Pleased with my purchase
Bought these to go with the jacket, brilliant summer trouser, not cheap but well worth it!
Bought these to go with my Marrakesh jacket as I wanted something more airy for hot temperatures. When standing/sitting still they do get fairly warm but as soon as you're moving you can feel the air flowing through gently, without feeling cold. I'm a 36 waist and the 34 fits perfectly with good length legs when sat on the bike. Used these with some merino leggings and Scott waterproof overtrousers on a trip to Spain recently ranging from 8 to 27deg and they worked well. Don't realise you're wearing them and the armour doesn't dig in. Some reviews say they don't fit with larger boots but I found I could just fit my Sidi Adventures under these, but they work better with Klim Outlander boots
Very comfortable and light weight, go over normal touring boots, but dont think they would go over a big plastic off road boot, you can use a belt or braces to hole them up as there is no zip to connect them to my marrakesh jacket, the material is stretches so you can put thermals underneath, and I use scott waterproofs jacket and pants.
I purchased these sight unseen after a recommendation and I already have the matching jacket. They were on offer and really good value. I found them very long on leg length and had them shortened. I am a 34" waist and the large fits well. I have only used them on two short trips as they are aimed at warmer weather riding but found them comfortable both on and off the bike. I have no hesitation in recommending them
Best go down a waist size, these are a generous american fit. But very comfortable when bought to fit correctly.
I bought these to wear in warmer weather, rather than my 'full-on' Badlands goretex trousers. They are certainly the most comfortable riding trousers I have ever worn, with regular style pockets that are deep enough to be useful and belt loops. They are a micro mesh type fabric but to the naked eye just look like reguar trousers. The knee and hip armour is unobtrusive and seems to be in exactly the right position. I bought a 34" regular and the length is perfect for both on and off the bike. Overall the leg cut is narrower than my other Klim pants, and so they look/fit almost like regular trousers. However due to the cut of the trousers, large 'adventure' style boots will not fit under them. I have also bought a pair of the lower Sidi Adventure Mid boots which work perfectly with them. Overall they seem to be very well made, I guess time will tell. But having worn Klim gear for several years now I am not concerned that will be an issue. Highly recommended if protection, ventilation and comfort are required for riding in warmer weather!
