Brilliant hot-weather trousers - aimed at offroad

I bought these Klim Mojave trousers to replace my Klim Induction trousers. There was nothing wrong with the Inductions at all - I had simply lost weight and needed a smaller size.

Although the Mojave trousers are technically aimed more at off-road/adventure use, I do not ride off-road. I use them for road touring and hot-weather riding, and for that they have been absolutely superb.

The airflow is the standout feature. In proper scorching heatwave weather they are extremely well ventilated and noticeably cooler than more traditional road/touring trousers. They are also very comfortable on the bike, with good flexibility and no awkward bulk. The Peyote colour helps as well, as it does not soak up heat like darker kit does.

Value-wise, I think they are excellent. They are roughly half the price of the Klim Induction trousers, largely because they are not CE-rated as an A or AA road garment and do not come with armour included. However, they use very similar materials, including the Karbonite mesh Klim also uses in the Induction range, along with Cordura reinforcement and leather panels on the inner knees.

I have added D3O Diablo Level 2 armour to the hip and knee pockets, which gives me much more confidence in them for road use. I appreciate they still do not have the official road certification, but with quality armour fitted, they FEEL like a very sensible hot-weather option for the sort of touring / riding I do.

They are not waterproof obviously and they are certainly not winter trousers, and they are not trying to be. They are for maximum airflow and comfort in hot conditions, and judged on that basis they are excellent.

For me, these are a brilliant summer touring trouser: light, comfortable, extremely vented, good value, and much better suited to very hot weather than most road-focused kit.

Fantastic for summer rides

I have the in the boot pants for off road trips but wanted the out the boot ones for my road bike. Very breezy and these newer designed pants are a much better fit. I use Leatt knee pads with these for a comfortable fit
