Klim Dakar Pro V6 Gloves - Black

I bought the Klim Dakar Pro V6 gloves in Sage partly because I liked the colour and partly because I thought I might use them in the same sort of way I use my Klim Marrakesh gloves. In reality, I don't use them as much as I expected.

That is not really the glove’s fault. These are designed as a dual-sport / adventure / off-road biased glove, not as a full road touring glove. I ride almost exclusively on the road, so I am probably not using them for their intended purpose. For that reason, it would be unfair to mark them down heavily for not being something they were never meant to be.

Quality-wise, they are very good. The materials feel exactly as I would expect from Klim, the Sage colour looks great, and they are light, flexible and extremely comfortable. The perforated goat leather palm gives decent feel on the controls, and the stretch backhand makes them easy to wear in warm weather. They are also very easy to get on and off for quick trips.

The protection is clearly more lightweight than I would personally want for longer or faster road rides. They are CE Level 1 and do have XRD padding (foam basically) in the knuckles, palm, fingers and thumb, but they do not feel as substantial as a proper road glove. Because of that, I now tend to use them only for short, slow-speed trips to the shops etc rather than proper rides.

That said, for what they are designed for, I can see the appeal. They are light, breathable, well-made and give excellent feel. If I rode off-road or did more dual-sport riding, I suspect I would get far more use out of them.

For my road use, they have ended up being a bit more limited than I hoped. But as a lightweight, warm-weather dual-sport glove, they are a quality bit of kit.

I purchased a pair of Klim Dakar Pro gloves in Cool Gray colour and size L to complete my Klim gear collection of Latitude jacket and pants, Outlander Gore-Text boots and Adventure Gore-Tex short waterproof gloves.

I wore these Dakar Pro gloves for almost the entirety of a 3,000 mile tour down through Spain and Morocco and back, in temperatures of over 40 degrees, and they were very comfortable and kept my hands cool enough at all times.

They are a very lightweight construction but are up to the expected Klim quality of design, material and construction.

I also wear these on warm days in the UK as I like the very lightweight feel of them. I have however also bought a pair of Klim Induction gloves which are very comfortable and given the more robust construction will probably become my daily choice gloves.

Overall, the Klim Dakar Pro gloves are an excellent lightweight warm / hot weather glove.
