If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Customers find these trousers comfortable, stylish, and ideal for various weather conditions, thanks to the removable liner. They appreciate the excellent ventilation, quality construction, and adjustable features like knee armour and ankle space. The trousers work well across different temperatures, keeping users cool in summer and warm in winter. Some customers note that the integrated thermal and waterproof liner can be too warm for summer rain. Overall, they rate the trousers as offering good value and durability.
Not quite as airy as expected. Perhaps a good thing, well made and feel substantial. The legs are a bit long for me. The waistband is too high, they do come up much bigger than size suggests. That said, you can feel the airflow when riding but once off the bike soon heats up. Haven't tried the thermal lining yet...
I bought these in preparation for a trip down to Italy and am super impressed. Great in the heat and simple to put the liner in when it's cooler. They are the most comfortable trousers I own. I was so impressed I went back and bought the matching jackets. That's just as impressive. I'm very pleased and surprised how good the kit is, especially at this price. It's now my go to kit.
Rather baggy when not using the liners, sizing about right. Although leg length slightly longer than what is confortable for walking, but OK when on the bike.
These ventilated trousers were purchased to replace my original RST ones. These are in my opinion more robust but still provide good air flow preventing my crown jewels from over heating. I decided to get the bigger size which has provided better freedom of movement. Excellent quality at a good price.
Good vented trousers, only downside is knee armour moves about too much.
I already had the matching jacket so knew what to expect. These are perfect for warmer weather where the excellent venting comes into its own. However the thermal lining means they’re still effective when the temperature drops the lining is easily removable and folds up small.
The only minor downside is the velcro belt that has to go through a plastic clip before securing which is a little fiddly. Having said that, it takes about 5 seconds so not the greatest hardship!
Brilliant. Feel really well made and fit really well. With the liner removed they are lovely and cool on hot days and they are comfortable to walk around in. Only improvement would be if they came in shorter leg lengths. Highly recommended.
Trousers are a good length and the waist adjuster velcros are helpful in getting a comfy fit. Only used in 17+ degrees and at the lower end of the temperature they are fine without inners. Haven’t ridden in rain or colder weather so can’t comment on this. Great protection armour included and like the jacket are AA protection level. Bought to replace my old pair which ripped and pleased with these.
Bought a large the fit is good just had to buy a pair of braces which keeps them in place as they are heavy as to be expected I’m 5ft 8 and 13 and a half stone and they are a good fiit only done about 60 mile in the heat with them on but comfortable
Great fit look great ,and do what they are ment to do, warm with the liner in super cool with liner out. And great price.
Amazing trousers true too size and not to hot in hot weather
I bought these along with the jacket in preparation for a tour of South Africa. Very quickly I realised that the lining is thick and very warm and it was removed once we arrived in SA.
I haven't tested it's waterproof ability.
Throughout the tour in temperatures between 26c and 36c I enjoyed a cooling breeze as long as I was moving. Once I stopped I realised just how hot it was and how effective they were.
Their strength proved itself by coping with dust, crashing tough bushes and undergrowth as well as the odd tumble without giving in.
I thoroughly recommend these trousers and know they will cope well in winter.
Great price vented trousers and in my experience RST are good quality kit. As with most textile kit it is the removable liner that is water proof and with this in they are then too hot and not vented. I always remove liner in the warmer months and if it rains slip some waterproof trousers on.
Had the jacket for a year and pleased with it. Trousers are a true size fit and more comfortable than my oxford kevlar jeans.
The waistband is high to prevent draughts and they can be zipped into the matching jacket. The liner can be removed for summer dry riding. The only downside is that they are on the heavy side.
Great trousers that due to the removable liner, could be used all year.
The only thing I don't like is that removable liner is both waterproof and thermal. It's far too hot to use on a warm wet day. Separate liners would make these perfect.
Ventilation is amazing. I bought medium (most of my clothes are medium) and found that to be 'roomy'; but I added braces for comfort, and the size allows me to have shorts or lightweight trousers under, which is useful when going out somewhere other than a biker cafe. They are a bit resilient in drizzle without the liner in, but heavier rain of course requires the lining. My one criticism is that the thermal and waterproof liners are combined, so it's all or nothing, making them too warm in a Summer downpour.
Quality of the item is top notch, and value for money is excellent.
I love the look of these trousers, superb styling. They keep your nether regions very cool. There are a nice fit, although they feel slightly bulky when walking around.
Used them on a trip to France this Summer (if you can call it that) and they kept me cool. The insulated liner was perfect too on those cool mornings.
Fantastic quality from RST without breaking the bank.
Good value trousers and a comfortable fit (I am 186cm and 80kg). Good leg length in the regular and able to go over both touring boots and shorter street type ones, without them being ankle tappers.
Worn in warm conditions (24°C) and excellent ventilation levels,
but not continental type heat, or used the liner in the rain,, hence a 4 star rating.
