If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Vest made of good quality material. Comfortable to wear for long rides even in summer. Easy setup and forget. Thankfully hasn't deployed yet but the fact that it has a large back protector and well padded is reassuring even if it were not to deploy.
Bought together with fork sensor which increases sensitivity and makes it work when bike is still, very easy to install.
Also bought spare gas canister.
Bought from SportsBikeShop who are great as usual quick professional service and free delivery.
It's a Helite and in my mind a very good inflatable vest
I prefer it to the lanyards version as I can go from bike to bike or even pillion.
On top of this once again first class service from Sportsbikeshop.
Well done guys
I have been using this for about a month. I commute almost everyday to work around 55 miles round trip. So far I haven't had any concerns about the airbag. It's comfortable and has added another layer of warmth during the winter. I have not ridden in warmer weather yet, but the weight and design shouldn't be too much of a problem.
It takes a little bit of time to charge first off and will generally take about 1 hour of charge for about 1 hour of use. I haven't tested the battery length yet but I would rather not risk it!
I will hopefully never find out if it works but it's like a seatbelt in a car. It adds a layer of reassurance should anything go wrong.
The measuring system is a little bit complicated and the general measures don't always meet the persons needs. In theory I would have been an XL but I ordered L, which is a perfect fit over my gear.
Easy to setup and use, comfortable to wear.
I took a long time to finally decide to buy the turtle 2 but I'm glad I did. When ordering I used the size guide but found that it was oversized so had to exchange for a smaller one. (chart is one size too big in my opinion). The vest fits fine now and has plenty of adjustment. I have worn it on hot days with an airivest and it doesn't present a problem with temperature. One of the benefits is you can remove the back protector from your jacket making it more comfortable. Once you have the vest on you soon forget about it. I did have to change the angle of my satnav screen because of neon reflection, but that's 1 small beer. I only need to charge it once every 3 or 4 long rides. It gives the Mrs some comfort to know I am wearing it too. Would I buy again? Yes I would.
Not had chance to test it anger and frankly hope never do. However here's a few thoughts starting with the big positive. I tried a few and found this was the best to wear over a vented jacket as it leave the most mesh exposed. Other offering may have better coverage especially over the shoulders but completely block ventilation. For me this is important during a trip to Spain. Less good is the on off button is hard to find so need to double check it's armed. Hence only 4 stars. Lastly I find the section over the shoulders comes up quite high so will need a neck buff. This was initially distracting but soon got used to it.
Comfortable enough to wear, easy as just chucking it on and riding. The charging does take a few hours, but (seems) to last a while. Wish the batteries were swappable. Hope not to have to use it properly anytime soon.
Superb bit of kit! Within 2 weeks of owning it i was unfortunate enough to be hit by a rock several mm's above the sensor which set it off. Incredible bit of kit having seen it work, incredibly reasuring seeing how huge it inflates to! I wear it every ride without fail! Its battery lasts weeks with a 35min commute each way, so very easy to use. I would suggest this to anyone!
Just simply undid the gas cannister, pushed the air out of the vest and fitted a new cannister - took all of about a minute and was ready to go again
Popped into the Leeds store to try this on - I'm a 38 inch chest and went for medium. When putting it on for the first time it was obvious that the vest would provide excellent protection for body and neck in case of an off. The back protection in particular is phenomenal, with a large solid protector on top of the airbag. Despite the weight it's very comfortable to wear, and the slight increase in warmth during summer rides is well worth it given the added safety.
Extremely impressed with this V2 Helite E vest. Easy to put on and operate. It gives confidence. It's also comfortable and very well designed. Cost is high but if you can afford it I would recommend fully. Rather like a helmet. Is your head worth 100 or 800 pounds. Same with your back, neck, thorax. Professional users swear by them and they are not wrong.
Express delivery from SBS, as ever. Ordered the L-L size for a 46" chest, and plenty of adjustment when fitting over motorcycle jackets. Also, fitted the Helite fork sensor unit to speed inflation times, and provide protection when the bike is stationary. If in any doubt about the jacket sizes look at the item on Visor Shop website, which equates it to T-Shirt sizes. Excellent protective product, which I hope never to use!

The only difference between these 2 vests is the connectors used to secure the E-Co2 canisters. The V2 vest now uses Molex connectors.
