If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
This is a brilliant jacket just had 3 days touring Scotland most weather conditions as you can expect in Scotland. wind and water proof. really warm and comfortable. far better than my old jacket . Service as always was top notch
When the price dropped to £169, I couldn't resist this as an impulse purchase. Having a 43" chest (with size 44 in RST+Weise jackets, and 41-43 in Knox all being "just right"), I was surprised that the "Large" 42 was more than roomy even with a cheap fleece in place of the thermal liner.
The collar is a little tight for the size. Vents work and the chest ones have a press-stud to hold them open. The D3O armour isn't temperature-stable, so in February when it arrived, the armour was very stiff and not very comfy - so I replaced it with some L2 alternatives.
I use this jacket for those trips that might give you a bit of everything.
Might be a good idea to get a size up.
Feels tight on the elbows, but this goes away when in riding position.
Haven’t been out in the rain yet to confirm the waterproof claim.
The only problem I have is the arms are slightly too long but I need medium jacket but I am a small 5ft2 but i usually have this problem with the arms, so i improvise as normal but jacket itself is great
I have to confess I was expecting something a little less substantial and, dare I say it for biking gear, stylish! The pictures in the advert do this jacket no justice, it is very well constructed, has back as well as elbow and shoulder protectors - compared to most who skimp on the back protector, and is thoroughly well thought out piece of kit, even the removable thermal includes sleeves not just a gilet - something I can't say for my Aplnestars!! Great value, great kit, greatly surprised!! Thanks SBS!!
My trusty and 13 year old Rukka finally gave up on me 8 weeks ago and needed a new jacket to cope with the ridiculous English weather. I already have a Merlin Porta overshirt that I love so opted for the Navar and I haven't been disappointed yet. I wear a large in most bike jackets and this fits true with enough space for a work clothes and a merino base layer underneath. Cinch points work well for adjusting and the longer cut at the back means no wet a**e. I've ridden in two big downpours (both rides around 2 hours) and stayed completely dry. Another plus being the laminate element meaning the jacket only took about half hour to dry out. Collar could do with being a bit taller and f**k knows what that zip colour is! Merlin gear really impressing me right now. Sportsbikeshop reading staff helpful and good for a laugh as ever.
