Reviews It's been a long wait, but the fifth incarnation of Arai's Tour-X range lives up to the hype

Customers have mixed feelings about the Arai Tour X5 helmet. While many praise its comfort, ventilation, and wide field of vision, some note issues with noise and internal rattling. Several customers appreciate the ease of fitting communication systems and the helmet's stylish design. However, concerns about certain components, such as vent adjustments and fit around the ears, are mentioned. Many are satisfied with the helmet, citing high quality, but a few consider its internal finishing not up to Arai's usual standards.
Arai quality in my opinion is second to none fit and build are perfect for me I would never venture away from this brand.
Excellent build quality, fit is pretty good, but seems to sit slightly lower over my ears than the Quantic, which I find strange. Visor is easier to open than the Quantic (which I still find difficult to open with gloves on). The vents work well and despite not having visor vents there’s no fogging with the Pinlock. Visor removal takes practice, however you don’t need a tool to do it. Mine came with a free race visor, so all in all good value. Overall I like the helmet, if I were to nitpick, the lack of internal dropdown sun visor is a pain, but Arai’s ethos is that it enables a stronger shell, so fair enough. The peak can go a bit wonky if knocked, but minor points tbh. Arai is a quality brand.
Had the Tour x4 previously, this looks better especially with the visor removal and vents
Helmet itself is great, well made very comfortable, peak does its job without grabbing the wind too much. My only complaint is it came with a fake pinlock. The pinlock packaging was sealed and said it was the correct pinlock but it was no where near the shape and contours of the visor, I had to go to my motorcycle local shop to get a genuine one that fitted and they were completely different from each other. I don’t know how that happened maybe someone had the helmet before me and returned it with a fake pinlock.
I have loved my TourX4 for years. So I was expecting a similarly good helmet with the TourX5.
Only major improvement is the visor changing mechanism is a big improvement. Very easy to remove peak/visor and replace.
However I find the X5 much much noisier than the X4! Pointless trying to listen to music or talk via intercom over 60 mph.
Rest of helmet is of course usual Arai quality. Build quality is good, although there was a tiny crease in the forehead area of the inner lining that I had to gently squeeze level, since then it's fitted perfectly/
Overall slightly disappointed in a very expensive helmet, mainly due to the wind noise around the visor attachment area.
Actually wish I'd bought an X4 last year!
Great fit and the quietest helmet I've ever owned
Fits just right and I can wear my glasses without any problems. I also purchased a road legal tinted visor as my glasses won't tint with clear visor down. The extra intercom system works very well and works with other brands of intercom
I have been wearing Arai since 1990, so yes I am a fan.
The Tour X4 has been my daily helmet for over ten year, so I am very used to it's good point and quirks.
The new visor mechanism, for changing visors is a great improvement.
The comfort is better and the aperture/vision is improved.
Buying from Sportsbikeshop.com at the Boston store, meant I could try it on with a selection of sizes available.
I would give the Tour X5 9/10 and Sportsbikeshop 8.5/10
Great helmet plenty of ventilation, very comfortable. Sportsbikeshop excellent customer service.
Bought following a 10-year hiatus from bikes and to replace an old RX-7. Fit for me is still outstanding, vision and ventilation have so far been great and it’s quiet too
I have had the X4 for the last four years that was great ridden over 30000 miles with it. The X5 was on sale and I really liked the look of it. It feels lighter is quieter the ventilation is better comms kit fits better I am really pleased with it.
First time of owning an Arai. Quality is next level in terms of paint finish, fixtures and liner. Stability at speed is better than my previous BMW GS Carbon, ventilation is more refined and it seems quieter. This design had £200 off list price and is still a current model, so also a bargain!
Since I have put it in my head it felt like a glove, easy fit, comfortable, with space to set-up the intercom without compromising any comfort, eye glasses fit in without any discomfort, simply perfect!! Only less positive is the wind noise is a bit higher than expected, everything else is just spot on!!
This is truly a great helmet. Fits perfectly, and the vision through the visor is totally unobstructed. so easy to fit my comms, as there is Velcro in all the right places.
Best of all the price through Sportsbikeshop was the best.
I purchased the Arai Tour X5 for 2 reasons - the extra wide aperture of the adventure style helmet gives me fantastic vision & the fluorescent yellow stands out a mile giving me security of mind that motorists will see me coming a mile off. If it’s good enough for the police in Europe then it’s good enough for me. ?
I absolutely love this helmet. I don’t have an adventure bike but chose this adventure style because I was struggling with being able to turn my head far enough at some junctions to see oncoming traffic. This adventure style has an extremely wide aperture which allows me to see much further without having to strain my neck and so making it safer. I get a sense of freedom rather than the claustrophobic feel I get from my normal helmet. It’s nice & light and I love the colour too.
Looks amazing, well built, and so comfortable. I know there are many stories about what "head" you have compared to different brands. I tend to fit OK in most lids, but when I tried this on I knew it was the one!!! And it's the Rolls Royce of visor mechanisms. Double D ring too. Perfect.
This is a great lid, it’s light, comfortable and quiet ish, you don’t the same drag from the peak I’ve had with other similar style helmets, making turning your head at speed for those life saver looks easy, the vents work really well and I’ve been able to operate them on the move with gloves on, in exceptionally heavy rain I did get some leaks around the top of the visor which required a stop to dry the inside, but I can’t fault the helmet for that the rain was biblical, except for my last lid I’ve used Arai helmets for 20 years and it’s so nice to be back in one again, the combination of quality and safety is reassuring.
