Verified Customer Reviews for SENA SMH10 Bluetooth Headset & Intercom
Purchased as a birthday present. Price was good and the shipping was fast. The unit was easy to install and get up and running. One thing that wasn't made too clear was the requirement to update it to the latest firmware (available free from the internet).
I have purchased one of these before, and found it to work very well.
I knew I wanted this particular model as my riding partners all have them. A very easy purchase at a reasonable price, and quick despatch. Would recommend !
After months of pondering, I finally purchased this intercom! What a great bit of kit it is too. I wish I had bought it sooner. Quickly dispatched by SBS and arrived in a couple of days. Easy to fit too. Great sound quality.
Fitted to my Arai Rebel helmet, works well. I ride with ear plugs and I can hear the music and GPS directions from my iPhone clearly enough if a little faint. Without ear plugs its quite deafening. I have to remember to turn the volume down when paying for petrol so people can't hear my poor taste in music. Phone calls are crystal clear although not tried whilst riding/moving. Looking forward to trying pairing headsets to my mate when we next go out for a ride on our bikes.
Took a little while getting my head round the best way of pairing this with my Garmin 590LM as a mobile because I wanted to use the Garmin's music player too. After that all worked great. The beefy helmet control is really easy to use with gloves on and there are lots of well thought out design features (eg: it remembers individual vol settings for each input). Battery life is good - at least 6 hours. BT did drop off a couple of times and required a switch on/off to get it back. Apart from that it greatly enhanced the 590's operation.
Easy to install and to connect to phone, sound is very good, makes such a difference riding with your buddies and being able to communicate, only problem I got with it is when I lean I say lean tilt a little around a bend my shoulder hits the button and it searches for another device. Excellent service and delivery from sportsbikeshop as usual.
Quick flick through the instruction manual, fixed to my lid and connected to my iPhone in ten minutes. I am impressed with the volume even at high speeds, music stream is never on full volume. Having owned a Parrot device which was awkward in operation and dull in performance, the SMH10 exceeded my expectations.
Built very well, fit to helmet was easy, works and sounds great. Slight increase in wind noise but I would guess any type would be the same. No problem hearing the unit though and phone calls clear up to 60-70mph. Would you want a phone call going any faster?
Very good quality and easy to fit to helmet. Setting up to Bluetooth devices no problem but make sure the speakers are in correct position with your ears or you find whatever your listening to will sound muffled.
I spent way too long looking through reviews of all the different products on the market before settling on this. I'm now glad I did as this piece of kit is excellent. The set up was easy, the sound is good in a cheaper helmet. I've just upgraded that to a Shoei which has made me even happier with this product. Thanks Sportsbikeshop for the price matching too!
Purchased the SENA to replace an Autocom system that had developed a fault. I also wanted to reduce the number of wires attaching me to the bike. Sound quality is excellent, with more than enough volume to use with custom moulded earplugs. Primarily used for touring/rides out with my son; we never ride more than 400 metres apart and this unit works perfectly over that range with clear audio up to 60 mph. Wind noise is a bit of an issue above 60 but that may be due to my Shoei Multitec helmet rather than the SENA. No problems pairing with other Bluetooth devices. All in all an excellent purchase - so good I bought two! Usual excellent service from Sportsbikeshop.
Only used the intercom feature when touring last week and it was fab. Even in quite bad wind noise. Intuitive controls and good battery life.
These devices have moved on considerably and very easy to use, even with thick winter gloves.
Pairs well and quickly with Iphone 4 and listen to music via Napster on the daily commute.
Phone is seamless and works exceptionally well and you can easily forget you are on a motorbike.
Not sure how I lived without it for so long. Would like a little more Bass, but sound great at 70 MPH.
I use this with the SMH10 clamp kit for Earbuds so I can use the Ultimate ear molded ear plugs.
Sound quality is excellent. I pair it with my phone to play music. Can control volume, next track, pause etc. Also paired with a Zumo 660. Just did a 1200mile journey and the intercom function is impressive although the range is a little limited.
Easy to hear even at fast motorway speeds, but that's using earplugs. Occasionally it will crackle or freeze, maybe once in a ride, but easy to fix, just turn it off and back on again.
My only real complaint is the 3.5mm jack on the clamp kit for earbuds. In hot weather it gets very flexible and the cable relief part is cracking after 1 months use.
Best headset, expensive but quality counts. V good service from Sportsbikeshop.
Lack of information on bluetooth headset meant this purchase was a bit of a leap of faith. I am glad I did it. Fitting was very easy to my Shark vision. The battery has lasted 2 weeks so far without recharge. Pairing to my android phone was easy and music streaming is good quality, loud enough and only interrupted by phone calls. I would recommend this.
Had this a couple of weeks now and it's been great so far. On my daily commute it's already stood up to sub zero temperatures, sleet and torrential rain and has stayed secured to my Schuberth flip front at high speed.
Fitting took about 30 minutes, but that was mainly small adjustments to get the microphone boom position just right as the chin area on a Schuberth is particularly tight compared to most other helmets. It effortlessly connected to phone and ipod via Bluetooth and I'm getting around 10-12 hours music / phone use out of it, between charges.
It's very easy to use on the go when listening to music or receiving calls. The noise cancelling mike ddoes a good job at 70 and below. The voice command dial function isn't great, but thats got more to do with the phone than the headset. I haven't paired it with another headset yet.
The volume will go louder than I can stand, so wearing ear plugs is still possible if you wish. The only downside is that the speaker quality with music isn't as good as I'd hoped.
All in all I'm really pleased with it.
