Oxford Mondial Advanced Textile Jeans - Black
Customer Product Reviews
Having tried countless pairs of textile jeans I have found these Oxford Mondial jeans. Having " average" length legs it's great to find jeans with shorter length. Not only do they fit perfect but the knee protection is in the correct position, making them more comfortable to ride in.
Just what the doctor ordered
Only a 4 start given at the moment, as I've yet to test the waterproofing. The fit is perfect and the quality shines thru. I have the jacket and trousers so they zip together to keep out the elements. The legs are a tad wide, even when the Velcro is at its tightest. I would recommend the Oxford Mondial set without a doubt.
Not bad at all
These aren't the slimmest or best looking textile trousers but they do the job. They've kept me dry through several commutes in heavy rain. And they're very comfortable to wear. My only issue is the over wide leg opening (a feature affecting a lot of textile pants these days, it seems). I fitted a couple of snap fasteners so I can get them tight around my boots. In the recent hot weather I've been leaving them in 'flared mode' to get a nice breeze up there! I wear a 34-30 jean size but got the XL Reg so I can fit them over my work clothes. All in all, pretty good.
Good value dry pants
Fit excellent, good ventilation and light weight for summer riding, so far they have been totally waterproof even though other reviewers say otherwise. The connecting zip and braces work well with the matching jacket, no problems with either as yet.
Tried them for the first time today, did a 180 mile ride out, was pleased with the fit and comfort, but when I took them off I realised there was a big burn hole at the bottom of the leg where it had touched the exhaust. My previous Frank Thomas ones had heat proof patches there, something oxford should have done! If you have a pair of these and ride a Tiger 800xc beware of this issue. As far as I'm concerned they aren't fit for purpose as a motorcycle trouser should be designed to cater for this scenario, and not melt like a plastic bag on a fire!
Soggy Pants !
Very disappointed First pair of trousers leaked in croch ,replaced by sbs with no problem, second pair leaked same place ,these will be going back also ,I'm also on my second jacket (not bought at sbs )second jacket also leaks on both forearms at top of zip can't understand all these excellent reviews complete rubbish as far as I'm concerned will be buying goretex..
Great style and fit
I'm 34" waist and 30" leg and the L size regular leg fit great. Good pockets zips and Velcro and the removal braces are a nice extra. Armour sits in the right place and winter liner is good quality. Venting is very good so will be good for the hot weather. I also purchased the Xl jacket and both zip together and fit great. I've given 4* as I've only been out in some heavy showers and not all day rain. Bone dry after the showers. Overall I'm very happy with the value for money as this complete suit is cheaper than most big brand Jackets.
Comfortable and well priced trousers
I bought these to complement my Mondial Advance Jacket as it has proved to be waterproof....I thought I'd wait to see how it coped and it has. The trousers are very comfortable and fit well. Good that they come with braces as well and can be zipped to the jacket. Very lightweight and with the warm liner in should be fine for the winter commute. They haven't been out in any excessive rain for a lengthy period of time yet but if they perform as well as the jacket then I'll be happy. Usual excellent service/returns facility from SBS.
I had a massive problem with these trousers and they just don't fit my body shape. Unfortunately they were not accepted for return so went for a few quid on an auction site. I've since bought a better make elsewhere. I doubt this review will get published.
Disappointing wet weather performance
All the reviews I read before buying these jeans were positive so I'm really disappointed to find out that these supposedly waterproof & breathable trousers can't stand up to the June rain. It's not the first time they've let me down either as I put the first experience down to they just felt damp. But no. They really did leak this time. Soggy pants is not a good feeling!! Shame as in all other respects they're excellent.
Portsmouth in Biblical Rain
As I'm sure you have, I'd read the reviews that said the Oxford laminate textiles excellent, and half the price of the competition. It is all true. I rode 5 hours to Portsmouth in biblical rain at motorway speeds and not a drop of water got through. If only they made gloves from the same material. The following week was spent riding in Spain. I removed the thermal liner, opened the vents and spent a comfortable week in the sun. Highly recommended.
Bought these as my old ones leaked in the crotch great service from SBS as ever Trousers fitted perfectly and comfortable but on first outing on trip to France last week they leaked in the crotch hope they will be replaced as hope just quality control issues
As good as the mag reviews
I'd been using a Rukka suit for years but having significantly cut down on my miles couldn't really justify Rukka money and so, after reading the review in Ride and watching The Missenden Flyers review, I decided to take a chance on these and I'm chuffed that I did. Completely waterproof, warm, very well made and they look great. Sizing is pretty much on the money and I love the air flap type thing that allows you to really get some air flow through them on warm days. I'd put them on a par with my old Rukka gear for just about everything although they're not made using the same material. For less than £200 these new trousers from Oxford are an absolute steal.
