A must with soft luggage

I don’t have hard panniers/top box for my R1250GS. I’m not planning to ride to the Gobi desert anytime soon, I don’t camp as my back already hates me and so I don’t see the point in adding half a ton of kit to my bike when riding to European countries that have shops if I need something. Consequently I have a LoneRider Overlander semi-rigid roll bag which fits all I need. However the only issue with my soft luggage is security, not such an issue in little villages but a problem at service stations and big cities. The steel core strap provides a solution, especially in conjunction with the Lonerider bag as it has a metal loop that I can pass the steel core through helping to secure the bag to the bike. When tightened down it does make it very difficult to remove or open the bag. I’m not naive to think it is foolproof- any determined sh&tbag thief will get into any form of motorbike luggage with enough time and tools, but it certainly gives me piece of mind that an opportunistic thief won’t get into my stuff when I’ve left the bike for lunch or a toilet break at the services. I’ve added a picture- not the best as I’d not tightened it up as far as it can go, but it gives you an idea.
