If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Be careful with the sizing, go 1 to 2 sizes up from your usual...
Bought an XL pair in October 2023, and they were "very snug", tried them again in Feb 2024, and they didn't go past my hips (still a 34" waist).
Bought another pair in 2XL, and they fit really well.
Well made, thermal liner works well, nice and comfy on the bike. Braces are a nice touch.
Good trousers.
Definitely go up a size from your regular size. Was a bit sceptical, but that was a costly mistake.
Great trousers, well made, really comfy on the bike.
Haven't tried them in the wet as yet.
Have a Weise jacket, so have removed the braces in order to use the zip.
Supplied armour seems OK, with knee & hip pads. Have replaced them with other Level 2.
Great pair of trousers, fit well and the braces add to the comfort factor
Bought these for colder days and wry days and they are perfect keep me warm and dry. Did however need to exchange for a size up as they run a little small.
They come up a size small so buy bigger. Well made but as I haven't been out in heavy rain yet I cant comment on whether they are waterproof or not hence just 4 stars. The service from Sportsbikeshop was excellent while I changed size more than once.
The sizing is not generous, so go up a size, i.e. for 36 waist go for 2XL instead of XL. However, if you want waterproof trousers don't buy these. They have non-waterproof material in the crotch and behind the knees for flexibility, but when the rain comes, it pools in the crotch and soaks through. That process takes no more than 20 minutes after which you can feel the water wicking through your under-layers. I have had some very miserable days on the bike, thanks to these trousers.
I bought these as they were described as being waterproof. Just rode 50 miles in the rain, they gave up within the first 15 minutes, I got absolutely soaked. Nice enough jeans if you just want textile trousers, and they are very warm with the liner in but I will have to carry waterproof over trousers from now on, which sort of defeats the point of buying them. Not recommended.
The jeans fit was to the correct size as per the size chart. Very warm with internal thermal liner. Sewing error on the waste band which should not have got through a quality check. Zip inadequate to the braces. Body armour OK on the knees, but inadequate on the hip area.
Leaked on first down pour. Lining at bottom of legs loose, expected better.
