Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
I’ve done around 2000 miles in this jacket in variable weather conditions ranging from 8 degrees to the high teens and very happy with it. I’ve not had an opportunity to use it in summer as yet but imagine it’ll be ok for temperatures up to the high twenties by removing the inner and mid layers which compactly fold up. The tough outer layer wetted out after around 2 hours in constant heavy rain which is to be expected for a drop-liner but I was bone dry so the waterproof mid-layer (removable) did its job.
The build quality is top notch, well designed with sufficient pockets, adjustment and ventilation. The front fold down chest vent sections can be quickly rolled either half-way by a magnet or fully which is a clever way of adjusting air flow. It has some heft to it but comfortable on and off the bike. The removable thermal inner layer (not a destination jacket as it’s on the short side) keeps the chill out but you’ll need something thicker for temperatures below around 8 degrees or a heated jacket to keep properly warm. The rear pocket is split in 2 sections which is useful but don’t expand that much. What I especially like is the adaptability with the removable mid and inner layers to suit the weather. True to size. I have a 48 inch chest with 46 inch hip and the 3XL (EU 58) fits me fine.
I did not experience any issues with the cuff zip closures of the mid and inner layers to the outer layer which some YouTube reviewers have noted. This is not a Rukka or Klim ( I have the excellent Badlands Pro V4 and a R-Viz respectively) but it’s not far off as a solid touring/adventure jacket, well worth the money and stylish. Great service/advice from the Preston SBS store as usual. Highly Recommended.
Bought the jacket with matching trousers. Jackets runs a little small especially with the level 2 chest and back armour, so if you plan on keeping them in size up. The jacket is fantastic, got a really good chance to test it out when I traveled from Liverpool to Glasgow and went through all four seasons. Jacket kept me warm and dry. With the layering system to the jacket there isn’t much need for layering yourself, thermal and a T-shirt was enough to keep me warm with temps around 6 degrees
There's plenty of vents on this jacket, which I like. There are pockets on the side specifically for your hands when not riding and they're thermally lined too.
When the inner liners are removed, you lose any inside pocket. This might be because it has chest armor, which is supplied. It likely restricts the places the pocket could go.
Overall I like the jacket, although the quality and longevity is an unknown.
Really nice fitting jacket, plenty of vents and pockets, it has all the armour including chest. Good quality feel, removable thermal liner and inner jacket that you could wear off the bike, really well thought out features. I would normally have gone for a large but as other reviewers had said go up a size and found that at 43/44 chest the XL is a perfect fit. Would definitely recommend this jacket.
This Jacket is as good as the online Reviews. Excellent quality, with plenty of ventilation. Looks good & feels good. Having the removable inner liners is a bonus. It's heavy to hold, but not when wearing. An excellent match with the trousers & already tested in heavy rain with no issues. I'd suggest going up a size - especially when the liners are in.
Love this jacket - great design and highly practical
