You'd be surprised how many riders wear a helmet that's too big for them. Here's how to tell if a lid really fits you...
When I started riding, I would never have thought I'd rate a £450+ helmet as 'great value for money', but then I got into the ADV game... lol.
Pros:
+ It's light for an ADV helmet
+ The aerodynamics on the peak are fantastic (for a peak), even on my 890R with low screen at highway speeds
+ The field of view is panoramic. Doesn't feel like you're wearing a helmet at all.
+ The photocromatic visor is brilliant and swapping between regular and fancy visor is quick and easy (I don't want to trash the fancy one on the trails)
+ Integration of my Cardo comms system was straightforward, plenty of space for it
+ Fits my round head well while maintaining a slim shell profile
+ Comfy to wear
+ Vents are good
Cons:
- The googles are a nice touch for someone who doesn't already own any, but I MUCH prefer something with a bigger field of view, like Scott Prospects (but the helmet fits those, too, so no biggie)
- It is noisier than a road helmet (to be expected), over 65mph the Cardo struggles to remove background noise, so unless I can find a fix (maybe a thicker chin curtain), it's not ideal for touring
- The photochromatic visor doesn't un-tint itself fully unless you put it somewhere really dark. Someone I know was recently spot-fined by the police for wearing a too-dark visor (also photochromatic) in low-light evening conditions. Not Leatt's fault, and I don't know what make helmet he was wearing, but something to keep in mind.
- Why only boring colours???
- One of my vents makes a slight whistling noise, must investigate further
Overall, I really like this helmet. It can do it all. I haven't tested it in the wet yet, but I'm looking forward to having a visor on those cold, rainy trail rides in the darker months.
This is my first ADV helmet after I traded in and bought a Himalayan. I chose this helmet as, although it is fairly pricey, you get goggles, spare visor and a pin lock. Also it is versatile as you can remove the peak.
Fits true to size and doesn't feel heavy. Photochromic visor works really well. I found removing and refitting the visor a little fiddly.
Overall I love the helmet and would recommend
Tried loads of adv. helmets and couldn't find Leatt....SBS new in, prompt delivery to local sbs, ordered sizes x2 of that and another helmet...fits like a glove, looks well made, and comes with visors x2 and goggles. Bought 1 and cancelled the other orders no problem.
Fantasic helmet, really well built with plush linings and a load of great accessories and features straight out of the box. Only gripe is that i cant seem to get the pin lock insert to seal, but that could just be me, ill give sportsbikeshop a visit and see if they can fix it. Fantastic service from sportsbike shop as always
