Merlin Chase II D3O Perforated Jacket - Brown / Black

Great jacket for summertime when you want something that looks somewhat casual but not too hot. Lots of ventilation for the arms and decent ventilation for the body. The thermal liner provided seems rather redundant as it only covers the body the torso. Given that the arms are the area that gets cold first with the amount of perforations in the leather, you'd want to where a layer underneath anyway. The poppers for the cuffs are okay. Easy to fit gloves but I would want to use the tightest cuff setting but it is a real challenge with the thickness of the leather making it very inflexible and uncomfortable. Lack of adjustment at the neck isn't a problem for me but could be more of an issue for others. Most jackets don't have them but I would always appreciate thumb loops especially when the cuff adjustments aren't great.

This is a great jacket, fits true to size with plenty of pockets inside. Has small stretch panels on both sides for comfort and fit plus perforated panels on the back of the jacket and sleeves. As it’s both brown with black leather on the sleeves it can also be worn with black jeans and gloves etc. All in all a very well made quality piece, backed up with the usual helpful and friendly staff at sportsbikeshop

After looking at lots of leather jackets I decided to order this one. First for the AAA rating, and second because Merlin is a British based company. The leather is thick but super soft and comfortable, the fit is spot on, I’m average height and a medium in shirts, with a 40” chest, and ordered the 40” jacket. It’s nicely fitted but I can still wear a light jumper, and with the liner and back protector in it’s still comfortable. The sleeves are a perfect length when on the bike, and when sitting there’s no bunching up of the body of the leather. I’m on a naked roadster bike. I’ve read mixed reviews of the quality of some Merlin products, and had issues with poppers on Merlin textile trousers previously, but I can’t find a stitch out of place on this jacket, the quality feels great, and it looks good too. Sportsbike shop service AAA as usual too, can’t recommend them enough. Cheers.
