Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro Boots - Black / White

Plenty of good reviews of these boots and that's what sold me on them, but I should have paid more attention to the poor reviews. I can't deny that these boots feel so comfortable when first put on but they have issues for me.

Sizing is off, they need to have a half size available as there is a massive difference between sizes. Not just in length but in width and how large the toe box is.
A 42 was too short and creased my toes to the point they hurt so I went with a 43.
They felt more than one size bigger with wiggle room in the plush padding front to rear and around the toe box, I had some reservations but after jumping back and forth between the two sizes convinced myself that they would be ok - well they had to be as the smaller boot was just too short.

The padding is nice but soon gives up and my feet slide about inside, there is a lot of heel float when trying to shift and brake, the boot doesn't move but my foot does inside them. This I my biggest issue as I'm getting loads of missed shifts, I've moved the gear lever position countless times but it's still happening, toe to lever feel is also vague, I also have a sore on my toe from shifting.
The buckles are a pain to use and once set they don't want to fasten again the next time you put the boots on. They need backing off and after two or three steps the boot is too loose, then you can tighten them again.
Some of this is down to the flap of soft plastic under the buckles that is supposed slide under the front flap but it tends to fold over and bind up, this may improve when I spray them to stop the incessant squeaking.

I'll give these a few more miles to decide whether to get rid.
