Every time you put your hand in a glove, it should be passing the CE label that shows it's been tested as protective kit. We'll show you how to understand what it's telling you...
The Alpinestars SP-8 V2 gloves strike a near-perfect balance between protection, comfort, and value. Designed for sport and street riders, these full-gauntlet gloves bring many race-grade features at a more affordable price point.
Pros:
Premium Build Quality: The full-grain goat leather construction is soft yet durable, offering excellent abrasion resistance without sacrificing flexibility.
Great Protection: The hard TPU knuckle protectors and reinforced palm with extra padding offer solid impact protection, making these gloves track-capable.
Comfortable Fit: Pre-curved fingers and stretch inserts between the fingers improve grip and reduce hand fatigue. The internal foam padding also adds comfort on longer rides.
Secure Closure: Dual wrist and cuff Velcro closures ensure a snug, adjustable fit that stays in place during aggressive riding.
Cons:
Ventilation: While there are perforated panels, airflow is moderate. Not ideal for extremely hot climates or summer-only riders.
Break-in Period: Some users may find the gloves a bit stiff out of the box, but they soften nicely after a few rides.
Final Thoughts:
If you're looking for a versatile leather glove that offers excellent protection with a sporty design, the SP-8 V2 is a top contender. While it s not the most ventilated glove on the market, its blend of comfort, safety, and style makes it a strong choice for everyday riders and weekend canyon carvers alike.
My palm circumference measures 21.6cm - exactly the maximum measurement on the size guide for medium and the minimum for large. So what size to go for??? As other reviews suggested the fit was snug I decided on large - wrong decision! The palm was too wide and the fingers too loose and long. So I changed them for medium. And, yes they were tight at first, but the leather has relaxed somewhat and they now “fit like a glove”!
Good value for money summer leather gloves.
Bought discounted. Looks well made with good quality leather. Quite tight at first but broken in over couple of 70 mile rides. I thought external stitching was odd, but they’re comfortable. Reasonable reinforced areas that don’t make glove too bulky. Hand stayed comfortable at 25deg c ambient temperature
Great quality glove quite snug to start with will give a bit over time
They arrived in good time and fit my hands well, although they will need some 'wearing in' to take the stiffness out of the leather, as with all good quality leather gloves. My last pair of Alpine Stars from about 10 years ago are still comfy and in decent condition, although most of the black the leather areas which are exposed to the sun in use have turned brown ! They look quite cool when touring abroad but I couldn't resist the price offer for a new pair.
Good value
Great pair of gloves nice fit and not a bad price compared to other similar type gloves would definitely recommend them
Excellent fitting glove really happy with them first class service from SBS as usual
I wanted a slim fitting glove with good upper wrist protection, I am a medium to large work glove fit and large was to small extra large is a good snug comfortable fit, I have chubby/wide hands and find the glove tight to get on or off but once on they feel very comfortable snug but yet agile with no restrictions Superb quality glove very happy with my purchase.
Good functional glove for the summer at a reasonable price credit to alpine stars has reasonable protection for every day road riding .well made and a snug fit
These are good quality gloves, highly recommended
Good gloves, perfect fit and arrived fast
Gloves great and matched price service spot on thanks
Excellent Quality, great value for money.
Been for first ride out with these gloves and now seemed to of bedded in ok. Good for warmer weather
I bought a pair of these from somewhere else a month or so ago, and went XL when using the Alpinestars size guide. I found them very snug! So much so that the Velcro ripped when I was pulling them on!
Managed to return those, and then got some XXL from Sportsbikeshop ☺️ When I try them on initially they feel really loose and too big, but don't forget your hands swell when riding - especially in warmer weather! So when I'm riding they feel great! So if In doubt, always go one size bigger, and make sure there's plenty of room for full range of motion.
I'll be getting something more substantial and probably XL for winter
Very good gloves. Bit tight on wrists when putting them on but that probably due to my huge hands!
I always thought gloves were just gloves until I bought these.
