Having all the extras like the pockets and zips makes it really handy to manage all my gear like keys! I like to keep my phone in the top pocket. The quality of the jacket is outstanding and has been fine in this cold weather. I have gone 5 sizes up though as my size was a little tight I am not sure how much it will stretch but it seems to be holding up well. Having washed the jacket in Nikki waterproofing the water does bead up a little and I think with waterproofs the great looking jacket would look good also for casual wear. Outstanding service from sportbikeshop as always. The detailing and workmanship is remarkably exceptional.
Excellent service by the staff, quality product and next day delivery.
Love the jacket, the fit and look.
The sizing by Oxford is way off though. All my other bike jackets are large but this one I had to get xxl. A bit tight on the arms but overall a great looking jacket.
Very good quality jacket, I've removed the thermal liner as I wanted it for summer rides. One small thing is the forearms and cuffs are quite tight. Overall still very pleased, also very pleased with the service from SBS as usual, delivered before due date.
Quality and styling of this jacket is fantastic. It looks brilliant on and off the bike, and could even be worn as a heavy casual non motorcycle jacket.
A decent enough level of water resistance and warm too.
Excellent build quality and value for money.
The only negative I find is that either the sizes are a long way off or when I put one on I quadruple in size.
Saw the jacket whilst at a local store and tried on an XXL (In normal clothes I am a Large/XL) and I couldnt even do the thing up!
Found it on SBS and ended up ordering a 4XL which fortunatelty fits as I really liked the jacket.
Wanted something I'd feel and look good in, both on and off the bike. Leather was my first thought but it's not great in the rain, and my wife isn't in favour of wearing dead animals.
Enter the Oxford Hardy. More attractive than my other non-biking jackets, and a pleasure to wear. The sleeves are tighter than my other jackets but I quickly got used to this - they don't inhibit movement or affect comfort at all. The zips are all YKK (the best), and the poppers all shut with a satisfying pop. Stitching seems to be of good quality.
The thermal lining I secured nicely by the zip around the main section and two popper based fastenings at the cuffs. These don't seem to snag when removing it as I've found with some other jackets. There's also a reflective strip across the back, which is black until light is shone on it, when it reflects white.
I wore the jacket yesterday for an hour's ride home in heavy rain and was pleased to find that I stayed almost completely dry. There was a little damp patch by the storm flap on the main zip so I'll treat the jacket with a suitable waterproofing treatment soon.
Got this jacket as my 'smart' jacket. Taken the thermal liner out for the summer which makes it a perfect fit and with the vents open makes very comfortable riding even when temperatures mid to late 20's degrees.
Best to wear it with long sleeve t shirt as the mesh lining can stick to arms when putting on with the thermal liner removed.
Quality materials and finish.
Love the jacket, looks good, fits well, even smells nice. Time was back in the 80's when I was a courier I wouldn't have even entertained a wax cotton jacket because they were outmatched by all these new fangled things with Goretex and what not. But now, things have improved no end with this particular niche in the market of retro style cool.. but.
Why the actual **** would a respected motorcycle clothing manufacturer sell a jacket like this without a back protector? Or even a decent way of fitting one.? Turn the jacket over and it says 'back protector pocket' but there isn't one. What you get is the whole of the inside liner as an empty void, with some weird piece of evening strap material that Cher wouldn't even wear, with a few bits of loop Velcro on. It flaps around all over the place, you can't see what you're doing trying to fit a piece of armour, and after about 57 attempts at getting it in the right place? Well, I invented 7 new swear words and opened a beer.
If it says ' back protector pocket, there should be one, and not a vaguely velcroed jock strap.
Just saying
Really impressed with this jacket- not only is it stylish and warm, it has all the protection you need.
Great colour and fit, as noted from other reviews, the arms are snug but they are fine with me not being a body builder!
Highly recommended!
Really great jacket that has excellent functionality, it looks good too. Certainly warmer than I had imagined with liner fitted. I think this will become my go to jacket. The only design change I would like is for the top pockets to be phone sized.
Wow, just wow. This jacket not only looks good but feels good when you're wearing it. It good for a little bit of light rain but I was most impressed by how warm it is with the liner. The temp was only around 5c but I stay warm even with only a t-shirt underneath, the jacket even did a good job of blocking the wind, but I was on a cruiser and only doing around 60mph. With lining remover it will make a great summer jacket.
I couldn't be happier with this jacket. It's very comfortable and the cut fits me well. As mentioned by others the forearms are a tiny bit snug but it does mean there is no material left flapping about. Also with the thermal liner in it does a good job of keeping off the chill in these colder months.
Fantastic jacket, perfect fit, looks great, plus the always excellent service from sportsbikeshop,
But the jacket is such good quality,
It has a good retro look and feels quality.
The sizing was an issue because I based the size on previous Oxford products and this was much smaller. I had to go two sizes up and could have gone to 5XL. I REMOVED THE LINER AND ELBOW PADS TO ENSURE THE BEST FIT FOR ME.
Now on a diet.
I tried this jacket on in another store and liked the fit and look but not the price. SBS were selling the jacket £75 cheaper so it was an easy decision and SBS always give great service. I ordered the jacket late afternoon and was wearing it by midday the next day. The jacket was immediately comfortable, it is a little tight in the forearms with the thermal liner fitted, as others have found. It is very warm and has kept me dry in persistent rain. It is immediately my go to jacket except when it has to be a Rukka day. Very pleased with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend SBS.
Been looking for a casual wax jacket for my retro bike. Good quality jacket at a very good price. Just slightly tight on the cuffs. Other than that a great product
A great jacket that feels solid and high quality. I got to try a couple on in store before buying based on different comments. I usually take a 44" in jackets and this was not different. The forearms are a little tight with the thermal liner in but not worth sizing up for (I'm no Popeye with the forearms but do cut a fine figure!).
So far it has been fantastic in both the cold and light rain. Very happy with the purchase and brilliant value from SBS as always.
Saw this jacket at the NEC show but didn't purchase at the time. Came home, looked it up and found it £20 cheaper at the sportsbikeshop.co.uk
The jacket seems to be good quality, is quite a dressy wee jacket that you could wear when not on the bike, has good lining as is comfortable to wear. The only things to note would be the lower arms are quite tight, although this will stop drafts going up your sleeves and I didn't particularly like the makers name badge on the shoulder as I think it takes away from the look of the jacket, although it is only on with velcro so can be easily removed. I have not tried the jacket in the rain as yet so cannot comment on that but otherwise a nice casual look jacket.
Purchased this jacket because of its style and the way it fitted when I tried it on in the store. I wore it on a chilly autumn day's riding in the Northumberland and it proved to be comfortable, warm, windproof and dry. The wrists don't allow gloves to go underneath them as they are snug fitting but that's fine for me.
