If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
I wore these trousers for a whole year, 3-4 times a week and they did the job. The waterproofing lasted about as long as I expected it to, (a couple weeks) the zips that open and close the vents broke literally on my first wear so they were open for that whole year. The pockets on these trousers are COMICALLY small. I can fit my earplugs and lip balm in the pockets, nothing more. You can’t even zip up the pockets if your phone is in them, so you gotta find a different way to carry that. The trousers themselves are quite narrow on the hips, I normally wear a size 6/8 for trousers but had to wear these in a size 10 just to get them over my hips, and I don’t even have wide hips. This caused the trousers to be too long on the legs, but if you have wide long boots like I did, you can get away with using the boots to hold the trousers up a bit, so they don’t fall past your feet. Despite all of these things, I’d still consider them alright trousers. They did what I needed them to do and they served me well.
