For the best chance of staying dry, laminated waterproofing is the way to go…
Customers are universally impressed with the Hinterland jacket, noting its solid construction, comfort, effective weather protection, and ventilation. Despite some minor issues like stiff material initially and lack of a back protector, the positive aspects such as warmth with the liner, flexibility, and waterproof capabilities stand out. Many find the jacket good value for the price, although some note that it’s not ideal for extreme winter conditions without additional layers. Recommended for a range of weather conditions, though slightly tweaked features are desired by some.
Seems good well made jacket does all I need at a reasonable price
Had this jacket for 13months and leaked at the zip from day 1 in heavy rain and now leaks at the inside of elbows.
Nice jacket very warm and has been totally waterproof for two years so far. Can get a bit hot in warmer weather but a great all-round motorcycle jacket.
Really pleased with this jacket, no leaks and as usual 5 star service from sbs
Keeps warm in subzero temperature, very comfortable to wear, keeps dry even in pouring rain, adequate pockets to unzip when the heat picks up. Used this jacket for year round commute (1 hour approximately) and I haven't had any complaints so far. So why spend 1000s
Light and completely waterproof. No velcrow, so it's not itchy near the neck. Nice and correct fit, as it says on the sizing guide. The only thing I don't like, maybe cause it is very new, is the stiffness of the fabric.
Great jacket. I've given four stars because in the four years I've had it I've replaced one zip on the pocket and the slider on the main zip. Waterproof.
Likes:
Very nice quality feel.
Excellent wind resistance.
Good looking jacket.
Dislikes:
Main centre zip bizarrely small. So in the dark or bad light very hard to use - zip head and track small. Same size as a pocket zip.
Side pockets a bit small. Not majorly so - but could have made bigger.
No front chest outer pocket.
Don't like neck collar design, having to loop it back to secure and too small to use with a scarf.
This jacket is described as short, however the body could actually be shorter to allow for us that are built like a barrel!
Personally I would prefer a little more (discret) reflective/hi-viz on the back and sleves.
This is a very comfortable jacket with good styling .It has enough vents for when it gets hot and interior and exterior pockets, it is also very easy to fit over the cuffs on waterproof gloves thanks to the velcro fastening on the end of the sleeves, I nice and warm and dry on my 700 mile commute overall a great buy with top rate service from Sportsbikeshop
Always trusted Oxford clothing as good quality at great prices. However, this is a premium jacket that fits as it should, and provides confidence in all weathers. A definite upgrade from the Mondial jacket. It keeps it shape well as the fabric feels relatively rigid. As always, SBS provided top quality service and dispatched quickly.
Another high quality Oxford product. I've had my first Hinterland for 2 years now and it's been through a lot of rain (I commute everyday) and not let one drop through, keeps you warm, but you'll need those base layers come winter. Why did I get a second one, well £140 off, a bargain backup jacket, even though there's nothing wrong with the 1st one.
Bought as a pair with the trousers, I'm pleased with this jacket. A bit stiffer material than jackets with a separate waterproof layer (the video explains this) it's not a prob. Vents work ok and fit is good. The neck closure has decent adjustment but I'm on the widest fitting (I don't think I have a particularly wide neck...) so maybe worth checking this, overall a decent jacket at a good price.
Bought this to replace an Alpine Stars jacket that had a faulty zip.
This jacket feels better quality and is very comfortable.
According to my chest size I was on the top end of large but had to size up due to being a bit snug around the gut.
In the market for a Laminated jacket and couldn't ignore this with the reduced price tag.
Overall the jacket seems high quality despite the cheaper price. All the zips seem sturdy and the jacket felt nice on.
The problem for me was the front. I was expecting a long front but in fairness, on reading the description again, it is advertised as short. When sat on the bike, (Tracer 9GT) I felt it would leave my stomach a little exposed to the wind blowing up. Returned to SBS and looking at alternatives.
This is the second set of these Jacket and trousers I have bought.
The first set is still going strong, still fully waterproof, just a little snug as I gave "grown" lol
When I saw the price for both, probably as they are at the end of their production, I knew it was a great buy.
The set have never let me down, I highly recommend it, and as always with quick service from Sportbikeshop. Thank you.
Great quality product. Looks and feels like quality. XL was a little baggy around the midriff so I re ordered the smaller size L. A lot neater around the middle and although snug around the shoulders it has good stretch with the built in panels. I'd say order your normal casual jacket size rather than previous motorcycle clothing size. As the title says "Chuffed" to bits with it.
I bought this jacket after trying a few on in the SBS shop and this fitted the nicest. I then had two days of very wet riding in the Lake district and it did a pretty good job. It did leak a little bit when the rain was absolutely chucking it down for hours but I think this was actually water that had blown up from the crutch area and not through any gaps or leaks. It didn't happen again so it might have been a one off. Overall though I am very happy with the jacket which I found was better matched with the Oxford Mondial trouser than the Hinterland trouser.
The Hinterland jacket employs Dry2Dry Trilaminate materials which offer outstanding waterproofing, breathability, tear strength and abrasion resistance - the latter resulting in an impressive AA CE approval. WarmDry insulation and Polartec stretch fabrics take warmth to a new level, while Oxford's new concept of Active Construction enables the jacket to move with you, expanding and contracting without the need for multiple external adjusters.
