If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Size L. Good quality armoured leggings with a snug fit on my 34” waist. Armour stays in place and they fit well under ordinary jeans and cargo trousers. Unfortunately the hip armour is in the wrong place for me being in two sections it covers more of the thigh and upper hip rather than the hip joint, which will impact first in an off.
Item returned for this reason only.
I got these to wear under other trousers that I have altered so I could have to protection stay where it should.
I'm a 36" waist with a 30" leg. I ended up with the large as the fit was spot on, there was too much movement in the XL. It was well worth trying both pairs on first.
Quite sceptical approach before decided to buy it,as reading all reviews and description seemed these are stiff and hard to belive these pants would be reliable at all. once tried on I couldn't believe how comfy they are and sit well under my leathers. My leathers are very fit and thick but are lacking of hip armour, that was the reason of buying knox leggings. I'm so glad having these as apart from given hip protection also my things are fully protected. What is better, all pads are removable so you can adjust armour to your needs. I removed Knox knee pads as my leathers have proper ones already. Knox fabric feels very sturdy yet soft and not noticeable while riding, love these! Speedy delivery! That's Sportsbikeshop!
I bought these for my partners birthday. He does a lot of green-lane and off-road biking. He was hoping they would be a bit more breathable or light-weight. However, he likes that he can wear the leggings underneath any trousers he likes and still feel supported and protected. He says that they are great as the pads do not move around and hug his body.
They did what they claimed to do. Some here have said they could be too hot under jeans. We weren't in superheat in France last week, with a high of 33 degrees, which is warm enough, I didn't feel they were too hot, they were quite comfortable.
You do need to buy at least a size down so they are nice and tight.
Bought to keep my constantly slipping armour in place, they are okay... I changed out the armour for the level 2 where I could, but the armour does still slip down and constantly pulling up the leggings so not a perfect solution, but I have more faith the armour will be where it's supposed to be if I was unfortunate enough to come off.
It does get quite hot with these and jeans on in summer, so just bear that in mind also.
I brought the 42" size, am about 43" (woman with hips!!) and they are VERY giving!!
Which is great, obviously lotsa give and very comfy!
A little baggy on me, which's ok cos I can just wear these under waterproof trousers and know I'm protected, in this particular summer is very useful!
A person with a 44" waist will probably fit the 42", definitely worth a try if looking.
Only gripe for me is my right knee has osteoarthritis, twice size of left knee, and the armour in these Knox trousers irritates BIG TIME! However, I wanna be safe and protect my legs as much as rest of me (Knox armoured utility shirt) so my knee puts up!
Still giving 5 cos EXCELLENT product at a pleasingly good price!
Thanks to SBS Customer Service who are just WONDERFUL.
If you read the on line comments these are described as for summer and in some reviews as tights allowing for air flow , so I thought I would buy some motocross trousers and use these as protection and also allow me to wear normal trousers and have these underneath as armour, this may just be acceptable in the UK at 20oC but traveling through Europe they are useless it is more like wearing thermals and after a long journey they are completely stuck to you and they have seams that rub. I would not recommend and I am thinking of selling them, the worst piece of motorcycle clothing I have ever bought.
I wear them under leather trousers as an extra layer of protection. Forget I'm wearing them, They are that comfortable
I bought these after realising most of the armour in my "normal" bike trousers was rubbish, particularly around the hips. I use them for adventure and trials riding and they are super comfortable and very effective. They do fit a bit snug so I'm not sure I'd wear them on their own, but even at a recent sunny trial they were cool enough to throw my trials trousers over the top without me melting. Thoroughly recommend
Great product, light and very comfortable.
Comfortable with large protectors that are held in the right place.
Quality item that is very versatile as can be worn under other trousers - motorcycle specific or not.
I got these trousers to wear for green laning. They are so comfortable and fit under my moto cross kit. I have also used them for wearing under kevlar jeans on the road. They are perfect for all types of riding. The sizing is accurate and fits well for men and women. They are lovely quality and the armour is the best I have used. Top product, I will be buying the action shirt next.
I have worn these a good few times now, under bike jeans with the armour removed and under normal jeans. They are very good quality and quite heavy which is reassuring, correct size will need to fit snug so they don't slip down, I bought small and medium, I am 32 waist and returned the medium, the returns process works perfectly, thanks SBS.. The small are only just snug enough so maybe wish id gone smaller as they are super stretchy and very comfortable, they do come up high but need to to cover the hips, all in all happy with them as I never liked the bulky knee protection in the bike jeans, these are much better. All in all good, glad I bought them..
Absolutely over the moon with these, great fit and they keep you warm on the bike and cool when walking around, I found the trousers to be very comfortable to the point I wore them all day, which prompted me to spend again on the jacket
Fit me well under Knox jeans, I continue to use Jeans armour as I figure the added protection is worthwhile. Also work under my leather jeans. Added layer is welcome given cold weather we've been having. Not likely to be comfortable in warm weather will have to wait & see. At present, wearing them on all my rides
These are now worn beneath all of my riding jeans and leathers, which have had their respective 'loose' fitted armour removed. I would say that the fit of these is critical, they have to be snug to hold the armour in the right place, too loose and they would slip down and be cumbersome, too tight and they would be uncomfortable. I'm a 32 inch waist, 5ft 11 and the medium fits nicely. I would say that if you have a bit of a gut, these may not be the best fit for you. Very well made piece of kit, the quality is evident from the armour to the stitching and material. I've been so impressed with these that I bought the Action Pro Mk II shirt to go with them.
I bought these to wear under riding jeans our waterproofs and they do the job but the fit is poor. The armour weighs them down so they keep falling down. You need over trousers to hold them in place, don't know how anyone would contemplate wearing them without.
The waistband comes up higher than the jeans (both Knox) so you have to tuck a t-shirt over and then it's still visible. They do work as under armour, they're also well made, it's just that they are cumbersome and awkward to wear, not particularly comfortable and I'm not sure how long I'll bother with them once the novelty has worn off. I was also planning to wear them under shorts on a bicycle but that is a non-starter as my shorts are not strong enough to hold them up, I'd need braces for my underwear, not a good look!
