Givi XL04 Expandable Tanklock Bag - BMW R1200 GS/R1250 GS Adventure and KTM 1290 Adventure S/R

As with all Givi products, the quality of this tank bag is excellent. Its designed specifically for a GS / GSA so it fits perfectly. I have up and back bar risers but the tank bag doesn't interfere with full lock at all. Plenty big enough for all the stuff you might need quickly.

If you are a Beemer 1200 or 1250GS rider and you're looking for a larger 'touring' tank bag then the Givi XL04 looks like a fine choice. It appears well made from quality materials and it's contoured to fit the shape of the GS tank. It's secured to the bike by a tank ring, which fits around the bike's filler cap for which you'll also need a bike specific adaptor.
Fitting and removing the bag couldn't be easier, simply place it over the locking ring and push down gently until it 'clicks' into place. To remove just press the red catch on the right-hand side of the bag and it lifts off. None of the faff associated with strap-on tank bags, particularly when refuelling.
There are the usual two zips which run around the top of the bag, one to open it the other to expand it to its full capacity. Inside there's a removable inner bag rated at IPX-5, which should keep the contents dry even in heavy rain. I believe the outer bag is also rated as IPX-5. Extras include a shoulder strap for off-bike use and an IPX-5 rated map/device holder which clips to the top of the bag if required. All in all, it looks like a well thought out piece of kit and a stylish addition to the bike.
I've yet to put it to the ultimate test of touring in heavy rain, so I can't pass judgement on its durability and reliability at the moment, but early signs suggest it should be a good choice. If it fails to live up to expectations I'll update this review.
I believe the XL04 will also fit some Ducati and KTM models, and also the new R1300GS.

It's a bit expensive, but it's totally worth it. I am delighted with the fit on my GS LC. Inner bag is of high quality. The expander is useful. I love the tablet pocket, and that it can remain in place when opening the bag. Essential small items you need to hand have their own pocket neatly hidden all the way around. This is a really well designed and well made bag. I can see the instrumentation as per not having the bag in place. It doesn't get the way of anything - full lock is no problem. I am really glad I bought this, and use daily. Highly recommended.
