If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
I grabbed the Klim Latitude Gore-Tex Trousers to go with my jacket for a long ride, and while they’ve been awesome, I can’t ignore the price.
Pros:
• Keeps you dry: Gore-Tex works really well—stayed dry even in hours of rain.
• Comfortable for long rides: The stretch panels and mesh liner make them comfy after a full day in the saddle.
• Good airflow: The thigh vents were a lifesaver in the heat.
• Solid protection: Knee and hip armour give you peace of mind, especially on longer trips.
Cons:
• Sizing runs big: I usually wear XL, but the L fit better after adjusting the straps.
• Bulky for walking: They’re a bit heavy if you’re walking around off the bike, but that’s the norm for touring gear.
Final Thoughts:
They’re fantastic pants with all the features you need for a long ride, but let’s be real—the price is a bit steep.. You’re paying for quality, and they do deliver, but it might be a tough sell if you’re on a budget. Would I recommend them? Absolutely, if you’re okay with splurging a bit.
Bought the Klim Lattitude trousers to go with the Klim Lattitude Jacket at same time . Being a fat git I usually have a XXXL in Richa waterproofs so ordered same size in the Klim and they were a perfect fit around my waist though noticeably slightly lower than my Richa Cyclones they feel ok and hold up well , even without braces (or suspenders if your American)
D40 armour sits and holds in the right places unlike some other jeans I own . The one thing that I wasn't keen on was in my opinion the excessive amount of material in the lower leg part , which is presumably to get over your boots ( very big ones i imagine) even with all the straps pulled right on they look and feel baggy , though tbh not that noticeable on the bike . Comfort wise they fell a bit rustleley when walking around and I found that I got uncomfortably warm in them during a 10- 20 min walk around Montgomery, in May , therefore like my Klim Lattitude Jacket I'm not sure they will be suitable for a July ride out we have planned . They are however extremely waterproof as tested on a decent ride in Heavy Rain & winds on Motorways
Had i not had to buy online due to time restrictions I would have probably tried on a different brand or two . I think they will prove very useful in the spring and tail end of the year but probably not so suitable for summer months and or sightseeing/ walking around in
These are great trousers I only wish they had belt loops to add a belt, or suspender loops to addsuspender ...... as a pair of trousers they cover all main bases and very comfortable, my only issue is that although the velcro staps on the sides are stag and work we'll the trousers sit low using them. I wish they had belt loops to add a good belt to give you and round support and tightness on the complete waist rather than them just be pulled in on each side leaving the front and the back loose. Of it had belt loops I would also allow suspenders to be added.
I needed new gear (jacket, pants, boots, gloves) for a tour down through Spain and Morocco and back, and after comparing offerings from numerous brands including Klim and Rukka, I settled on Klim gear.
I purchased the Klim Latitude trousers in Castlerock Gray to go with the matching Latitude jacket, together with Outlander GTX boots, Adventure GTX Short waterproof gloves and Dakar Pro lightweight gloves.
I opted for the Latitude jacket and pants because I felt they struck the right balance between protection, waterproofness, weight, venting, quality and price.
I have to say that I have been delighted with them and after covering over 3,500 miles through both Spanish and Moroccan heat and British storms, they have performed flawlessly. In heat, there are plenty of vents to open up in both the jacket and pants to flow air, and in rain and wind they are absolutely watertight - even after riding for hours through constant rain. The same goes for the Adventure GTX boots and Adventure GTX short gloves.
The sizing, with it being a US brand, is quite generous. I'm 5' 11" with 44" chest and 36" waist, and I got the jacket in L size and pants in XL. The pants are a bit on the baggier side compared with other brands but this suits me personally as I prefer to have more room for movement inside and helps with airflow in hot weather.
Overall, I highly recommend the Klim Latitude jacket and trousers.
Finally, the service from Sports Bike Shop was outstanding - ordered a load of gear to my local store in Birmingham so I could try them all on and decide which was best, no trouble at all. Definitely my go-to first choice shop for bike gear these days.
Back to regular sizing compared to the bizarre cut of the Kodiak trousers I had initially ordered. I'm a 36" waist and these fit perfectly. A 38" was too tight and a 40" in Kodiak pants was way too big - go figure!
Anyway, super quality and cut. I added Klim braces and overall very satisfied.
Very pleased with these. I did need to swap to the next size up as they are "true to size" and not a lot of give.
Perfect product. Sizing info spot on. Arrived on time amd in full. 5* service.
These trousers are a quality pair of protective, waterproof trousers. I find they fit well, and are comfortable on and off the bike. They are waterproof and windproof, and have kept my legs warm in temperatures down to 3 or 4 degrees. I used the SBS try on and buy service, as I wasn't sure which size I needed. Both pairs were waiting for me at the store, and the staff were very helpful. Highly recommended.
So far I have found the trousers to be very nice although I do find the knee protection to either be in the wrong position as I ride, and not great to walk around in due to the same knee protection. They are clearly a quality item though and I would recommend trying them on to make sure you are happy with them. I am also riding a sports tourer rather than an upright adventure bike which I think it would suit better.
The Klim Latitude pant compliments the Klim Apex jacket which I recently purchased. The materials used in the manufacture of the Latitude is of a high quality and initial impression is that it will last many years. I wear a thin base layer pant beneath the Latitude and have ridden so far in temperatures ranging from 8 Celsius to 19 Celsius without feeling cold or excessively warm. They are well vented for when the temperature rises. I would recommend sticking with your normal waist size, I'm a 34 waist and had concerns after reading some reviews that may be a big loose and considered a 32. However with a base layer pant on the fit is perfect, any smaller than 34 would have been a bit tight. As yet I haven't tried in wet weather however see no reason in the build and design of the pant to suggest they wouldn't perform as required. I'm very happy with the performance to date and would recommend this pant.
Really comfortable pants. Loads of vents so even in very warm weather I don't feel too hot.
I haven't yet had the chance to test their waterproof features, but so far, they're ticking the boxes for me.
Great top of the range trousers. Wanted to try these on before buying as it's a considered purchase so SBS had a great selection in stock so went the 100 miles to try and buy. Highly recommended store
