Nolan have joined the flipover party with their N120-1, and they're a very welcome arrival
Helpful Reading Sportsbikeshop branch stocked enough options to ascertain size and feel. I'm on the border between small and medium and wanting safety over comfort, but only just. I tried a Shoei last of all, just to see, and everything did seem better but beyond my dreamers budget. Back to reality, the helpful order to try method allowed zooming in to this Nolan N120-1 N-Com. It feels good, with a wide view, quickly learnable feature adjustments and oddly feels lighter than the weight suggests. Hot slow ride segments are a pleasure with the chin bar right back and no drag unlike the previous flip. Size small was chosen and correct as the vision blurring motorway wind waggle of the last helmet has gone.
Product is comfortable and well ventilated with the vents open. Chinbar opening may be a problem with thick gloves on due to size of the buttons. Visor is easy to open with gloves. Pin lock visor keeps the fog away well. Strap is secure but a bit fiddly to release.
Absolutely love the colours on this helmet and it fits true however the one negative I could say is it seems rather noisy on the dual carriage ways but that being said that might be my fault letting to much air in from the collar of my jacket. Will be fitting the N-Com today this is rather expensive considering its the same price ad the helmet but after watching the installation video it's been made clear that your paying more for the N-Com easy installation or you can use earphones attached to your phone. One thing I'm a bit concerned with when it comes to the Nolans N-Com attachment is it's part SENA and they have never been ones for easy updates with there devices.
Helmet comes with speaker cut outs
In all the Nolan N120-1 N-Com - Nightlife is really nice you won't be disappointed and sportsbikeshop have a awsome customer supports
Nolan are usually my go-to, as they fit my head really well. I've gone from a full face Shoei GT-AirII, to this. It is slightly noisier at motorway speeds, but it is so comfortable. It's really well made, the lining is plush and well ventilated - and it comes with the pinlock installed which is a huge win coz I hate putting those things in! The field of vision is incredible, the visor feels massive and is crystal clear to see through. Super happy with this helmet!
Packaging damaged
Seem OK at the moment, like the pin lock. The ventilation is a lot better than my previous Caberg Duke 2, so good I had to shut it.
Comfortable but slightly noisy but that's the price you pay for a flip top.
This is my 3rd Nolan in the last 10 years. This helmet keeps the same shape internal fit as the others and has been comfortable from the go.
Easy to use chin over mechanism, is light and simple with one hand. Visor with pinlock is both clear and without distortion. The sun visor seems less restrictive to light than previously. Good, but might be a bit feeble on the brightest of days.
Ventilation is the best I have known on any helmet to date. Cool without feeling drafty. Haven't seen really heavy rain yet, however it did let some water in somewhere above the face.
No buffetting behind the bike screen, however there is wind noise ever present at the ears. Gets a bit noisy at motorway speeds, even with foam earplugs.
It weighs 100g less than my 100-5, but that has intercoms fitted. Feels a tad heavy in use.
Overall pleased so far, comfy, good visibility and user friendly. Just reservations about experiencing cold, wet winter weather.
Very comfortable fit for me. Very effective opening and closing mechanism, vents, visor and sun visor. Good wide aperture giving excellent visibility. Good aerodynamics (noticeably smoother airflow compared to my old AGV). And lastly, great value
For £300 the Nolan N120-1 is amazing value. Great build quality, fantastic field of view and the sunshade is nice and big and not too dark.
The flip up mechanism works smoothly every time and is very secure. I was expecting this to be a noisy helmet but it's far quieter than my shoei GT Air 2. Much less wind resistance and it's comfortable to ride as an open or full face.
The lining is lovely and soft and fits securely on your head without being too tight.
It also come ready for an intercom. I fitted a Cardo with no issues and it's great to have a channel for the boom mic.
I'm super pleased with it. My new go to and it's so practical being able to flip up when you're getting fuel or in a shop. Or in hot weather!
Fantastic service as always from SBS. The first helmet has a very slight gap between the visor and rain bead and they replaced it same day.
Highly recommend this helmet if you're after a flip up. Arguable better quality than my shoei helmets! A bargain.
Nice comfy helmet fits well little bit of wind noise but had lot worst all the bits work well on it so def recommended them plus sportbikeshop are great to deal with
Bought this to replace my 4yo Shark Evo which had faded badly due to UV. This Nolan is a class above - quieter, comfier and with a wider field of view. Twinned with the n-com it's everything I need in a helmet. Price matched too - bargain!
Great service and a great helmet, the manager took time to explain different features on various helmets and eventually we came to the conclusion that the Nolan N120-1 was best suited for me.
Very comfortable helmet. Opening mechanism works perfectly. Great to ride in jet mode when hot.
Head position adjustment doesn't seem to do much.
Few drops of rain made it past the visor seal, but generally good at keeping rain out.
I decided to look at the N100-6 flip up and the N120-1 flip back having attended a biker specific first aid course(I am a doctor), and seeing how much easier this type of helmet is to remove in the event of an accident - I know, slightly morbid! I also wanted a helmet meeting the latest safety standard(22.06 -dual). Anyway, I ordered both from Sportsbike shop to compare. Quality and fit was excellent for both but the N120-1 feels very much more balanced with the chin bar at the back when in "jet" mode. The N100-6 felt very top heavy with the chin bar up and I felt the helmet was trying to flex my neck. I kept the N120-1 and am delighted with it. My only (nit picking) criticism is that it can be a little noisy, but only to be expected with a flip I guess, but I wear ear plugs anyway. So overall, both helmets are excellent, but the feel and balance of the N120-1, in my opinion, is better.
Went to Leeds Sportsbike shop looking for a helmet. I had researched on the internet first. Found what I wanted but unfortunately they did not have my colour/size in stock. I was told it could be delivered next day. Paid and as stated it was delivered the following day. Amazing service. Staff so friendly. Great atmosphere in the shop. Way ahead of competitors. The helmet its self is a perfect fit. Easy to use as I wear glasses and can put my helmet on without removing them. It is quiet and the chin bar can be locked in the open position allowing for open face riding. Great around town. Internal sun visor which one button to quickly retracted. Great product.
Great Lid
I wear ear plugs so absolutely fine noise wise. This is extremely comfortable good field of vision - easy to use in up and over mode. Very happy would recommend.
This helmet is a full flip, which makes wearing a doddle and can be ridden as full open face with a quality liner and built in sun visor, so covers all options. Great price from SPORTSBIKESHOP and quick delivery.
I have to compare this lid to my previous Shark Evo helmets, I did consider the Evo GT but that was noisier than my One 2 as for the ES the visor is just a no, pinlock all the way.
This lid then, what's good? Field of view, comfort(no glasses), top ventilation, adjustment, visor mechanism, chinbar mechanism, general fit and finish, what's not so good?, wind noise from the sun visor control (needs tape over, Shark system is better), chin ventilation. The chinbar sits too close to your mouth causing the visor to mist up even with vent open. Chin strap, I'm not convinced it's very fiddly in comparison. Fit with glasses, even if you take out the bits of pad designed for glasses whoever did the measurements must of had ears by there chin, the Shark system again better.
So in some ways better, feels quieter but under certain conditions is noiseier, fit is more comfortable unless you wear glasses it is OK but you'll need to adjust(one day it'sfine the next not so much), visor is great just remember to keep it cracked until up to speed.
That's it hope it helps.
