You'd be surprised how many riders wear a helmet that's too big for them. Here's how to tell if a lid really fits you...
Initially drawn to the AGV K6 which is in fact a lighter helmet. The Nolan has the advantages of having the drop down sun visor and the facility to install an intercom. The lining is plush and I personally like the design and shape.
I recently purchased the Nolan X-903 Ultra Carbon, having previously owned the Xlite X-803 Carbon, and unfortunately, the X-903 has been a bit of a letdown. While it offers almost the same level of comfort as the X-803, the overall quality has taken a significant step back.
The most noticeable issue is the finish. The plastic chin vent on the helmet did not line up properly and popped out from one side, giving it a cheap feel which is far from what you'd expect at this price point. Despite being an aesthetically pleasing helmet, the misalignments and quality inconsistencies detract from the premium feel you'd want in a helmet of this calibre.
That being said, Sportsbikeshop's customer service has been absolutely brilliant. They addressed the issues with the helmet and worked with the manufacturer to sort out the misalignments. While I appreciate their efforts, the disappointment with the product itself remains.
In the end, despite its comfort, the Nolan X-903 Ultra Carbon does not live up to its commanding price tag. The helmet's build quality simply doesn't match what you'd expect from such a high-end product, and for that reason, I can't recommend it to anyone looking for top-tier performance and finish in their gear.
