HJC have announced the new F72 and F72 Carbon, which will replace the F71 and F71 Carbon in their sports-touring range for 2027.
The new helmets keep the familiar brief of combining sporty aerodynamics with everyday comfort, but HJC say the overall dimensions have been reduced by 10% compared with the previous generation. The aim is a slimmer profiled, with less drag and lift at speed and reduced strain on longer rides.
As before, there are two versions. The standard F72 shell uses HJC’s Advanced Fibreglass Composite, while the F72 Carbon has a carbon-fibre shell to reduce weight while maintaining impact performance. Both are offered in three shell sizes and use four EPS sizes across the range.
One of the more noticeable changes is the visor mechanism. HJC have introduced a new system that moves the visor forward before it lifts, helping it seal more tightly when closed and, say HJC, reducing wind noise.

The visor release and lock have also moved back to the centre of the visor. That is a change from the F71 and F71 Carbon, which had their opening mechanism at the left-hand side, and returns the layout to the central position HJC used on earlier generations.
HJC say the new centre lock can also be used to crack the visor open slightly with one press, while metal components are used in the mechanism for a more positive and durable action.
Both helmets use HJC’s new HJ-52 visor, which is Pinlock-ready, Optical Class 1, scratch-resistant and claimed to block 99% of UV. A Pinlock insert is included in the box, while the F72 Carbon will also come with an additional smoke visor.
An internal multi-step sun visor is also fitted, allowing riders to alter its position rather than simply choosing between fully up or fully down. HJC have also widened the eyeport to improve peripheral vision.
Ventilation is handled by HJC’s Advanced Channeling Ventilation System, designed to move air from the front of the helmet through to the exhausts at the rear. The chin vent has also been integrated more closely into the shell, with HJC saying it helps increase airflow and reduce visor misting.
Inside, both helmets use an anti-bacterial liner designed to wick moisture and dry quickly, with removable and washable crown and cheekpads. Emergency-release cheekpads are also fitted.
One notable omission compared with the F71 generation is provision for Smart HJC intercom units.
The dedicated Smart HJC mounting plates used on the outgoing helmets are clearly absent, and there is currently no intercom listed as being specifically designed for these two new models.
That suggests riders wanting communications will need a more conventional universal-fit system, unless HJC announce a dedicated option later.
The F72 will be offered in sizes XS to 2XL, with UK list prices ranging from £249.99 to £299.99 depending on colourscheme. The F72 Carbon covers the same size range and will cost between £379.99 and £399.99.
They're expected to arrive on the shelves in Spring 2027.
