Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...

Pros: Warm (worn down to 0 °C) and so far have kept me dry. Hip armour is large, but I like the coverage and it isn't uncomfortable. They do zip to my Oxford jacket, which is nice. Braces are appreciated.
Cons: The knee armour is too low for me, even adjusted into the uppermost position, and the positioning velcro tab is fairly wimpy, at least for my skinny legs. When I hike them up enough that the knee armour is in the right place it can be a bit drafty around the top of my short ankle boots... though so far no water has got in. Waist fasteners are a bit finicky - the waist seems a bit on the tight side, but then once it's done up it isn't actually especially tight.
I do like these overall and will modify the knee armour placement myself to get it right... but I'm a very average height and weight, and my knees aren't weird so I wonder who they designed the armour placement for!
Great fitting round waist and bottom of the leg love the braces that come with it have not been in the rain so still unsure of how they will perform the knee pads are a bit annoying they move about and sometimes become unconfutable when sitting on bike or walking
Fantastic trousers, great price, super warm (a little too warm for autumn), waterproof and so comfortable.
The trousers seem well made, but I’ve not worn these out on a bike because the knee armour is very poorly placed and can’t be adjusted so they’re covering my kneecaps they sit to far down. Unfortunately I’ve removed the tags or these would have been sent back. They come with braces and apart from tha armour fit well.
For textile trousers, the fit is ok though I suspect the legs would be a little loose with the linings out. The sizing is accurate too. The hip armour is huge, which is good but fairly rigid & is a little intrusive on the bike but it's not really a problem.
They are waterproof (100 miles of rain) & quite warm though you would need thermals for really cold riding. Overall I'm happy enough so I bought the matching jacket.
Normal top quality from Oxford and excellent delivery from SBS. Bought to match the jacket I had previously purchased. Not had a problem with water ingress and sizing is good.
These are superb in every way especially when you take into account the cost. Braces are great although I wasn’t keen to start with. I bought large to wear over normal work trousers but can feel tighter than my other trousers below the knee but this is actually comfortable and keeps knee pads in the right position sitting and standing! Trousers go over my boots effortlessly. They are nice and warm and the most waterproof I have had. I love Oxford products in general but these are great.
Design, build and function good at the price. No particular issues. Happy with the good range of velcro adjustment on lower leg rather than a zip.
To warm so far which is a good sign. Appears showerproof so far. Disappointed with knee armor floating all over place and bottom of trousers Velcro not long enough so cannot fully tighten around boot. I can fix both but knocks of two stars.
As with the jacket there are no zips at the ankles but the velcro fastening is more than adequate to tighten around boots. Braces are an added bonus. Plenty of adjustment in braces and waist straps. Warm and comfortable and waterprooof
I was always a full leathers guy in my forty years off riding a motorbike. In my later years it has become more difficult to get a perfect fit for a good feeling and comfortable ride.
I opted to go for a all weather option and now wish I had done this years ago. What a difference more room to move loads of pockets, better wind and rain protection and fully adjustable to get a comfortable fit.
I now have the jacket and trousers and I am looking forward to winter riding because they are so comfortable.
Bought a set for my 15 year old, good quality fit well and looks the part, next purchase will be a set for myself.
These trousers are what you'd expect from a decent brand like oxford. Solid good protection. Warm with a removable layer and flexible enough with the knee pads. They go over my boots well solid feeling pockets on the thigh as well easy access.
I bought the Oxford Calgary suit in early May 25 for a 3000 mile bike tour to Europe, including 3 days in the Italian Dolomites and 3 days in the Alps. For the early start to the Channel Tunnel, 4C, I wore the thermal liners; these were removed at the first night’s stop and remained in my top box for the rest of the 14 day trip. The suit kept me warm, with just a thin fleece underneath, over some of the mountain passes (down to 5C), cool along the Italian Med coast (28C) and dry through 2 days of heavy rain (base layer completely dry). The wrist and ankle cuffs easily allow fitting gloves/boots underneath and the Velcro flaps make fastening and sealing the cuffs very easy. A very comfortable and effective suit which well deserves its Ride recommendation and offers incredible value.
Comfortable true sizing and too warm!! Had to take the liners out as it’s 10-12 degrees C outside
Well made trousers, CE AA rated, reasonably priced too.
Was looking for another pair of trousers which weren't baggy at the knees, but would zip to my non Oxford jacket, these fit the bill.
Waterproof and warm with the liner in. The braces are great.
Velcro adjustment at the lower leg holds the armour in place and stops the trousers flapping about.
Simple pants - but so far very effective. Definietely waterproof. Landing on my knees in the puddle and staying dry proofs it. Really love the braces. There are only 2 hip pockets, but they are reasonably large and sufficient. The most important for me - they fit over or inside my boots. Also - not sure whether intenctionally - there are no zip locks or any hard elements at the bottom of the trousers - so when you put pants in the boot - nothing to dig painfully into your shins. Reasonably priced, no-nonse piece of kit.
