Advice & Guides If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
Looks good and very comfortable. Great air flow in the summer.
I haven't worn it in the rain yet.
The jacket was not tested by me in the rain or winter. But for a laminated all-rounder, this jacket seems great for the price. It felt a bit boxy, and the Velcro was constantly catching between the sleeve and the front of the jacket, but once on the bike and riding, it was okay. I didn't feel too hot while wearing it, all things considered regarding how thick and heavy the jacket is. I went to exchange the jacket and was informed that it's likely to happen again (the bottom of the zip on the non-zipper side, the hook comes away, meaning after four uses, I couldn't close the jacket anymore). Ended up with another RST jacket (Tactics EVO D30).)
I've only worn this jacket for a single day's ride, but it works so far. I like the colour scheme and the overall look of it. Sleeves were a bit shorter than expected, so try before you buy. I normally take a 2XL, but I needed a 3XL - makes the fit around the waist a little large though. Might help when I'm riding in -5 and insulated, rather than +25 and T-shirted, I suppose.
I've just added a hook and catch to the neck line to hold the neck open - it doesn't have any way of holding the flap back. Something like the front air vent openings holdback system would be nice, please Mr RST, and wouldn't add much to the manufacturing cost. Whilst I'm critiquing it, the patch pockets look large, but are smaller than they look. My glasses case won't fit, unlike in other jackets I have.
For the price the SportsBikeShop have it up for, it's a good bargain. Here's hoping the waterproofedness (is that a word?) holds up - when it does, actually, rain.
This is the second time purchasing this suit, previously had the blue/silver variant.
Bargain price for a laminate suit with CE level 2 protection. Worn in all weathers and for tour of Scotland. The suit kept my warm and dry when needed and cool when the sun came out. The only niggle is the lack of a clip to hold the collar open when warm, but I just tuck it into the chest area; this is comfortable and stays in position. Fits true to size. Highly recommended - don’t spend double the money on an inferior product from another manufacturer.
Very comfortable. Thermal lining easy to remove. So far have only been in the rain for about an hour, never got wet, so impressed. Would recommend.
Excellent all round jacket not used in the rain
I still have this jacket nearly 2 years now absolutely love it best the money can buy very comfortable
I’m very impressed with the RST Pro Series Vulcan Waterproof CE Textile Jacket. The silver and blue design looks great and stands out nicely, while the build quality feels premium and durable. It’s comfortable to wear, offers excellent protection, and performs perfectly in wet conditions. The fit is spot on, with good ventilation and flexibility for riding. Overall, it’s a reliable, well-made jacket that delivers on both safety and comfort—highly recommended!
Jacket feels very well made and robust, also comes with a back protector, I've always had to buy these at an additional cost. The vents are easy to open with one hand and clip in magnetically. I was out in 23- degrees+ and the jacket was warm but manageable. I've (thankfully) not had a chance to test the waterproofing. There are enought pockets for the jacket to be practical but still look streamlined. The matching jeans attach via an easy to use zip or can be used with braces. Only downside is there is no way to keep the neck open on hot days but has not been a huge inconvenience so far. Very happy with the purchase at a very reasonable price for a Laminated AA Cat 2 armour rated jacket.
needed some kit for summer heat which is water poof already had some RST adventure kit to hot for summer rain decided to buy the RST vulcan kit tested it in rain and shine very good kit only problem the jacket main zip failed but sportsbike direct changed it within a week.
Dislikes: single front zipper adequate for 3 seasons only. Small hand pockets which don't fit an average phone except in a vertical position. Hand cufs need improvement, not suitable for cold wet weather with short gloves. The fit seems smaller for my usual 2XL jacket size, 117cm chest.
Likes: definitely great in wet or warm weather. Excellent ventilation the cuffs are allowing a great deal of draft which works well in hot weather with the other front and back air vents. Slim fit, great length, feels light, good quality protectors. Good quality zippers, stiches and neck colar. Sleeves allow a relaxed fit, on short side.
Overall very pleasant to wear (took the insulation layer out to allow space, recommend trying different sizes first), great colors combo.
For winter the RST pro series commander are superior despite the lack of stretching material. The sleeves are also short requiring gauntlet gloves for long arms people.
I think that despite its small quirks this product is brilliant for 3 seasons commuting or touring.
As my first proper adventure/touring jacket, I am really impressed with this piece of kit. Comfortable, cool in the hotter days and warm with the inner lay in. Nice big deep pockets. I intend to purchase the matching trousers too.

Providing the thermal liner is still fitted within the jacket, we see no reason why this couldn't be used throughout winter.
