Reviews You don't have to shell out a fortune to get your membrane laminated to the outer...
I got back into riding after many years and with a family behind me, I decided to opt for something safe and fashionable. After a lot of both online research and frequent visits to my local sportsbikeshop in Bristol (and some competitors for that!), I decided that the Weise Ozark is for me.
Where to start?! Well, it is a "AA" rated garment, has Level 2 armour in elbows and shoulders and the Level 1 armour on the back can easily be upgraded to a Level 2 for around £25. It also has a thermal lining, which is sufficient to make someone feel warm enough in cold weather. But the best feature is that it is laminated and is so much better, in my opinion, compared to 2- or even 3-layered systems that are being sold out there.
It has sufficient vents on the torso, forearms, on the back and one could argue low on the arms too. It also has sleeve adjusters, which I have been using to minimise billowing, but to also have a better and snuggier fit when riding. It also has torso stretch panels and they work brilliantly!
I have been using it for a few months now, as I have been doing my refresher courses in riding and also Module 1 and Module 2 training and tests. I have nothing to complain about. As a matter of fact, I like it very much and I also found that I could fit in a 4XL, which was great news (well, for me at least!).
Finally, I have also been wearing it without the thermal lining in the nicer weather we are having recently (May-June 2026). I have to say that I did not feel at all hot or uncomfortable. I had the vents open and they worked great.
I saved the best for last. A couple of days after buying it, I tried it on and the zip puller on the main zip broke off as I tried doing up the zip. I felt slightly frustrated and thought that something like that should not happen to a brand new garment. So, I went online and shared my views with Weise directly. Little did I know that a very helpful chap contacted me the very next day to inform me that he had sent me 4 brand new zip pullers! I also asked him about the type of Level 2 armour that this jacket could take and he actually saved me some research by letting me know the exact model I should go for! This is some truly great customer service!
I bought this Weise Ozark jacket as I wanted a laminated waterproof jacket rather than just having a waterproof membrane found in cheaper ones.
So far im really pleased with it. Its kept me completely dry in some heavy rain and the quality feels really good considering the price range. So far very pleased with it.
A great winter jacket, I commute to work on my bike, all weathers.
As we know, not everything that says waterproof is!
But 5 starts for this Weise Ozark jacket and trousers,
I have just had 4 days of heavy rain, traveling for 30mins each way, on flooded duel carriage ways, not one leak.
very impressed, very good fit, had to go up a size as over clothes
I like that I can do up the collar easy, some you just struggle
I have weise Leathers very good, why I tried these.
Good service from Sportsbikeshop trying jacket at branch before ordering, excellent pricing and quality garment, not tried in anger yet but sure that it will give me the sped as advertised
Being able to order different makes and sizes to find what suited best was amazing. Next day delivery and free return was superb. I'd hoped to get another make but found the arms too long for me. The Ozark was better for my build/shape and the arm length fine. L was a tad snug but XL is nigh on perfect. If I have any criticism of the jacket it's that with the lining removed there's only one inside pocket. I haven't tested it in heavy rain yet but it can only be better than the old jacket I had. I'm now considering a pair of matching trousers. So, pleased so far with the product and the service. Recommended.
The spec of this jacket with an AA rating and L2 armour is better that some of the more expensive well known brands.
Comfortable to wear not tested the waterproofing as yet.
Looks smart, fits well, very comfortable and practical. It has 2 main zipped pockets and 1 inside zipped pocket. The liner unzips making the jacket usable year round, especially with the air vents opened. Fully waterproof with an excellent protection rating.
I have trouble buying clothes that fit with a 52" chest and 38 waist. I bought this in size 52 and it fits very well with the adjustment around the waist. Although a reasonably heavy jacket that you can remove the thermal lining it does not feel it whilst on, has plenty of vents and is very comfortable and the adjustable neck fastener is a good touch. It could benefit from some adjustable straps around the waist for me but I understand not many people are my shape. Very good quality that should last and the Armour should take a hit if needs be.
