Stopped working
09 Sep 2025 by Anonymous
I was initially pleased with this device. It connected fine with my phone and BT headset. It has a bright, clear, screen. While the bracket holds the device securely, it is not intended to be removed. It would not be difficult for someone to yank it off the bike by force or remove it with a hex key. I was happy to carry that risk.
The device packed in during a heavy rain storm on the motorway. The 3 amp fuse blew. When I replaced the fuse the device was still dead. It would not work with the USB cable or direct-wired cable which I had wired through a switched fuzeblock under the seat..
SBS did not hesitate to take the device back and I’ll await a decision on the warranty. I’ll be happy to accept a replacement because I was more than happy with its value for money. But it will definitely need protection from heavy rain.

Does what it promises

This is a great unit. I bought it last summer and it has never let me down in over 7000 miles of trips and general riding. It works perfectly and once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to navigate and use. Tried another brand elsewhere (which I returned) and it was nowhere near as good as this PAMA unit. Highly recommended!

Pama ridecast

The unit is very good quality, screen brightness is very good, the hood helps as well, the instructions are poor took me a while to work out the different screens and operations, once i got it paired was ok, after the inital setup it pairs every time with my samsung phone and headset, brightness and volume are good can see and hear at speed no problems, the main problem is the mount, no quick realese, easily stolen if left on the bike, flimsey plastic, I made my own permanant steel mount

Good and less so

The unit easily connects and gives Appleplay on the display. However the leaflet included is a poor translation and it's difficult to work out some of the operations as a result. Having wired it in to my Triumphs battery it powers up ok, and there is an on-off switch on the unit. On powering it off, the next time I went to the bike the display was on again this resulted in a flat battery. I'm still getting used to it, so I'll see if I can get over the problem. Pity there's no decent information.
