Advice & Guides You can’t take two helmets on a trip, can you? Oh wait, maybe you can…
Customers are generally pleased with the new Shark helmet, often describing it as comfortable and well-fitting, especially with glasses. The helmet is praised for its improved design, with features like the flip-back system and sun visor often highlighted. Though there is admiration for the ventilation when riding slowly, several customers mention excessive noise at higher speeds. The helmet’s ability to allow for riding in both closed and open-face modes is appreciated, and its stylish design and advanced features have impressed buyers, despite some issues with noise and visor limitations.
chin bar adjustment 'flip over' is very easy , great that the helmet comes with pin lock visor
Ive been looking for a while at all types of helmets and saw the 2 in 1 where you can have the front pease nice tucked away behind ur head when doing short trips then on longer you can have it on "full face mode". I am defently going to get the Bluetooth mic for this. I would of like to see a attchement for a helmet cam but it might be possible to 3d print an attachment holder for the other side of the hemit where the Bluetooth mic fit in. The hemit fit well and feels secure around my head and ears. I am very pleased with it and just what I was looking for
Slight crack -hairline in plastic surround - not sure what to make of that. But apart from that. Great
Nothing to note.
This is a good helmet for functionality and features. I have had it for 5 months now, it hasn't misted up during the winter, it is comfortable, there is a large field of view, my glasses fit well in it, the integral sun visor is very useful and all the mechanisms are easy to use once you have practiced them a bit. Mine was £200 cheaper than the "big" brand helmets, so good value, but it is a noisy helmet. I get round this with some good quality earplugs so all is fine. Sportsbikeshop staff in Reading were very good at helping me choose the right size.
Usual shark great fit for my nogin well made and at a sportsbikeshop great sale price. Always usually use another bike shop for my purchases but seen this on sportsbikeshop and was well chuffed
Just as extected. No problems.
Delivered the next day and a quality product. I am. Very happy with it
Like the colours, like the flip over design, the drop down sunscreen, ratchet strap fastening - and the price was within budget. Not very keen on the 2-catch, pinch to open chin bar mechanism - nothing wrong with (I thought) with the older design of a thumb catch under the chin bar itself - and I'll have to wait to see if I can work it with frozen hands in winter gloves.
And... why move the sun visor slider from the top of the helmet, meaning it can be operated with either hand, to the LH side, meaning it can only really be used with the left hand? Change for the sake of change, perhaps? So, only 4/5 stars I'm afraid.
Won't know what it's like to ride in for a week till the warmer weather gets here (I know, I'm a wuss) but it feels comfy so far on shorter trips.
Love the flip up function. Well built for the money. Cardo kit fits well although I decided to make some alterations to the plastic insets. Not sure if it's me but seems a little noisy when riding compared to my full face helmet but a neck tube seems to help with this issue.
I own quite a few Arais, including a TourX4, but this is my go-to helmet for a day long ride or for touring. Why? Mainly because I relish the flexibility that the Shark offers; chin bar stowed away in warm conditions (a la open face) or full face in inclement weather - and I've ridden these past couple of weeks in both. Having owned a couple of the earlier Evo series helmets, I've noticed a marked improvement in the Oxo's fit and comfort levels. It's far more plush and comfortable than my earlier helmets. Not yet on par with the likes of my Arais but......getting there.
The only thing that has annoyed me was that one of the side 'panels' decided to pop off and disappear into the undergrowth - somewhere. It hasn't affected the performance or convenience of the helmet, but that's not the point. I have since discovered that sourcing parts for Shark helmets is not straightforward. Indeed I've had to go to Shark in France; where the P&P is more expensive than the item! What a shame. Hence the 4 stars.
Helmet is a comfortable fit and came with a tinted daylight use visor. However found that the helmet is very noisy even at 30mph.
Nice paint job, comfy and the visor mechanisms feel better than the older models which had a tendency to fall apart.
I always buy Shark helmets because of the quality and the fit and the comfort, this is my 4th Shark helmet and it doesn't disappoint, love the lift up visor and drop down sun visor.Definitely be using sportsbikeshop again.
Purchased new Shark helmet for touring unfortunately this is not a quiet helmet despite using ear plugs.
Other functions are very useful and easy to use.
This helmet does everything its supposed too. Easy to fit, easy to operate the chin bar and visor with one hand the visor stays open on the first notch.
A massive upgrade on my previous lid.
Plus side - really easy operation, very good peripheral vision.
Minus side - noticable wind noise around ear when in full face position
