When considering Grand Touring your equipment has to be comfortable, protective, and reliable under any circumstance due to the variety of weather conditions you'll likely encounter, as well as the number of hours you'll spend at the controls. With this in mind, Five have spent several years refining the design of their premium touring glove, the GT1 Evo GTX, incorporating a multitude of innovations and features.
With its topside made of a combination of stretch nylon and SyntechSkin™, which is as tough as leather, paired with a comfortable palm in natural, full-grain goatskin, this glove features numerous top-shelf components and materials.
The GT1 Evo GTX is equipped with a Gore-Tex® Grip membrane attached to the palm, contributing to its impeccable grip on the controls without the slightest slippage. It's a first for a glove that also happens to feature insulation. When you're in Grand Touring mode and you're travelling far and wide, even in the summer days can start early and end late- when temperatures start to cool off. So, Five have included lightweight Primaloft® 80g Gold Cross Core Aerogel™ thermal, water-repellent insulation on the top of the hand- an insulating material that combines all the expertise of Primaloft® with Aerogel™ (developed by NASA for aerospace use), and is featured in the very best outdoor sports equipment.
The safety aspect has remained a focus as well, and benefits from a major technical innovation and partnership. The protective shells on the GT1 Evo GTX are made from D3O®, a flexible, innovative material that hardens in case of impact, a shock-absorber like no other that has become a true benchmark in its field. The innovation resides in the fact that Five combine the D3O® technology with the ergonomic design that's unique to their honeycombed Five Ergo Protech™ shells- in lieu of standard shells that you might find in competitors' gloves. This is a first for Five and for D3O®! You'll also find D3O® elements at various strategic spots on the glove, like the inside of the hand, on the hypothenar (underneath a layer of Superfabric® with high abrasion resistance), on the knuckles, and even on the forearm. This complete D3O® system makes the GT1 EVO GTX one of the most protective gloves in its category.
In addition to protection against the elements and impacts, Five's premium Touring style comes with an abundance of features for passive safety and comfort. These include a plethora of reflective spots and patches that cover its topside, offering greater visibility at night; the Over-Size Cuff System™, which allows you to adjust the size of the cuff so you can wear it over or under your jacket's sleeve; a flexible, moulded Wiper Blade™ integrated into the index finger of the left hand; the Touch Screen™ system on the thumb and index finger that allows you to zoom in on a touchscreen without taking your glove off- truly practical when you want to take pictures at an outlook that offers an alluring view!
The GT1 Evo GTX offers just about everything you could want in a modern, high-end Grand Touring glove. It's not a summer, nor a winter glove, but it's sure to satisfy you most of the time…After a short time breaking it in, once it's perfectly moulded to your hand, it'll take you to the ends of the earth!
