15000 miles later, the best straps ever

I bought a set of these back in 2021 for an epic trip halfway around the world. I finished my trip in December 2022 and I can honestly say, they are the best straps I've ever had. Unfortunately due to my own negligence I melted one strap in Turkey very early on (but it was still usable) and broke a buckle on my final run in Australia by allowing a 5 litre container of fuel to slip and drop on it. I successfully used them on all manner of bikes I hired and bought along the way and every time they worked without a hitch! (did you see what I did there?) I replaced them with a second pair as soon as I got back to the UK. I know this is a ramble but honestly, these are one of the best products for securing luggage, whether hard or soft, that I've ever had. So convenient and robust. I would get another set in a heartbeat.

First time I've used them , they are probably the best product to use if you are securing soft luggage to your bike. Usual SBS service 5⭐️

Great straps but one small niggle...

I bought these to strap a bag on the back of the bike which has a Kappa rack and top plate and is normally used to carry the topbox. For some off-road work, the topbox was a non-go and I needed straps. These were perfect apart from one minor irritation in when used with my set up.

Although they worked amazingly well, I would have preferred the stretchy end of the straps to have a couple of inches of webbing between the buckle and the elastic so it could be manoeuvred around the top plate. As it is, the elastic has to bend through 90° sideways which makes it an awkward kink.

Other than this, the usual great quality from ROK.

Very good

So far so good. Used on a long weekend away loaded up with luggage. Very straight forward to attach to the bike and fairly easy to make sure they are secured firmly. Once I got it set up I could not move the bag if I wanted to.

An upgrade

I have had regular ROK straps which have been used every year for about 15 years, and whilst they still work they were looking a little ragged so it was, time for a replacement, so I happily paid a little extra for these heavier duty versions. I haven't tried them out yet but have every faith they will be brilliant.

I have just received a replacement pair as the originals had been on my bike rack securing the Enduristan bag down for 3 or 4 weeks before I arrived at my destination just over a mile away and saw a strap hanging. When I looked, to my disbelief, the buckle had sheared off completely on one side. I had been through a couple of fields/tracks in the previous week, but nothing dramatic and the bag was only a quarter full. I am wondering whether that was the problem, as the straps were at their shortest possible length and then seem to chafe on the other webbing straps. Either that or it was just a weaker set and was just unlucky.
Time will tell with the replacements I guess.

A vast improvement on the old straps

The old ROK straps of the same size were great but, there was a tendency for the rubber to part from the buckle. The nylon cover would hold it until it could be replaced but the strap was no longer serviceable so would have to be binned. These straps seem far more suited to heavy use and the adjustable buckles will ensure you don't put the rubber under excessive tension should your load increase on your travels. The loops that secure either end of the straps are durable and strong, again they're an improvement on the old straps that needed to be tensioned and buckled at the same time. The old system, in my opinion, was a little dangerous as many times I got my knuckles rapped when the buckles failed under too much tension. This system prevents that as you can adjust the tension to suit the load. For what it's worth these straps have my recommendation and I would certainly buy again if I had a need for more.
