Merlin Perton Textile Jacket - Olive

Originally tried the Oxford Holwell (I liked the Red) in 4XL but it was too small. As usual the returns procedure from SBS was simple and quick. I read other reviews about the Perton being a generous size, so I tried the 4XL in this - and it fits perfectly. I was surprised how "High End" it appeared when it arrived - everything is really top notch. I was a bit worried that the Olive colour was going to be too green but even that is spot on - it is indeed a true Olive colour.
Not tried it in the rain yet but no reason to suspect it won't do a great job.
This is my first Merlin product - but it certainly won't be my last
The original price would have been spot on but the special offer price I paid makes it the buy of the year. Fantastic product at a fantastic price and the usual excellent service from SBS.

Ordered this jacket for an in store try on (simple and effective) tried it on, discussed the merit's with the staff and bought the jacket. New to motorcycling and found it functional, stylish and as it's winter warm! Well made and excellent value for money, Sportsbikeshop delivers again!

Bought for an upcoming trip to the USA and I am very pleased with it as this jacket looks and feels good on or off the bike. Well made, feels quality. Very comfortable with the liner in during a cold ride out in the North East in January. Bought an XL which is my normal size for regular jackets and fit is excellent. Great service as usual from Sportsbikeshop Leeds.

Well made and looks great. But I had quite a time getting the size right for this jacket as I'm really a Medium/Large fit. So other similar Merlin Jackets were either too tight at the hips ( with hip protection) in medium or just too large allover. This jacket being above the hips meant medium was a perfect fit all over. Really warm on 5 degrees day and apparently very good in the rain as a friend mentioned apart from at the wrist where apparently the water membrane doesn't go to the end of the sleeves and they soak through, so need to watch what gloves you wear

A beautifully made jacket, worth every penny. The branding is discreet and enhances the vintage look. The jacket looks like and feels like wax cotton, with modern materials making it great in all weathers.

I just wanted to say I am very impressed with my new Merlin Perton Jacket it is a very well made garment
I have been a Merlin guy for a few years now my previous jacket was the Yoxall which saved my hide in an accident, only had a few holes worn through from sliding down the road.
I am a 42 large athletic build and both my Yoxall and the Perton were ordered in medium and fit like a glove

The jacket is fantastic, looks great, fits well, does everything a jacket should. However, it's the armour positioning that let's it down, more specifically the elbow armour, as there is no adjustment and, as it's sewn into the lining it floats a bit too, so it's mainly a forearm armour, so I have to fiddle a little once the jacket is on to get it in the right place. However the jacket is worth it overall, maybe not at full price though. Great service from SportsBikeShop. The best.

Love the look of the jacket, wanted it for some time.

Wore it in light to medium rain for an hour and kept me dry. The jacket did take a long time to dry 1-2 days.

Very comfortable to wear with warm lining over just a thin long sleeve tea shirt , short front so doesn't ruck up and dropped tail. Waterproof so far in showers lots of pockets !
Armour located well - I'm 178cm tail slim bought medium Good value

I've been using this jacket for two months. Temperature between 10 to 25 degrees and still very comfortable without the inner. I also used on heavy rain without any issues. So, I can strongly recommend it

Very comfy jacket, I'm 5ft 9, 100kg, I usually purchase XL in jackets, tried in size L and it fitted perfectly. Looks great on and off the bike, doesn't look so "motorcycle jacket" when worn off the bike. I have only worn in light rain but it did seem to hold up well. Have worn in warm weather but it does run a little hot even with thermal liner removed but it's ok once you are on the move on the bike. The right forearm pocket works well for Toll roads if you have your bank card in the pocket, no faffing with coins or wallets which is great. I haven't tested in heavy rain or cold weather yet hence only 4 star.

Tried the order & try on in store service as other reviewers seem to have issues with Merlin sizes.
Service was great messaged when in, was able to try medium & large. I'm a 42 & large was for me & room For base layers. Good jacket comfortable on the bike, good water proofing & AA rated. Windproof & nice lining. Back protector ordered at the same time.
What I wanted & great for riding my Z900rs. Also good for off the bike.

Good quality manufacturing and very comfy to wear. Suits the styling/image of my new Indian Scout Bobber. Thermal liner works well with only a long sleeved tee shirt underneath with outside temp of 10deg C. No noticeable difference at speed.

Normal jackets I'm an XL at 6' 3" but in all mike bike jackets I'm a 2XL and this jacket measured up the same as a 2XL.
