Schuberth C5 - Gloss Silver

Ordered a C5, the medium was just a bit too large, disappointed that despite I had to pay the return postage as I live at the top of Scotland. I think that over a certain value returns should be free. The replacement fits fine.

Only 4* at the moment as only had the helmet a short while. It replaces a C3 that I had for several years. The C3 has been excellent and I expect the C5 to be as good.
Fit is good and it is nice and quiet as expected. Ventilation is the best of any helmet I have owned.
About to do 1500 miles around Germany and Holland so we will see how we go.

Tried this helmet and the Shoei Neotec 3, both excellent quality and good fit but the Schuberth was on special offer saving me nearly £200.
Now done about 1,000 miles with it confirming l made the right choice.
Very comfortable after several hours continuous wear plus very quiet.
Fitted my own "cheap" intercom and could hear it clearly even with custom ear plugs.

Excellent fit straight out of the box with no adjustments needed. This replaced my existing C3 Pro and is of better quality internally. Nice and quiet behind the screen but I always wear custom earplugs. Only two minor criticisms- the tinted screen is not dark enough and I would have liked the headphones and aerial installation to have been an optional extra rather than compulsory.

Brilliant Helmet worth every penny. Quality and comfort is outstanding. The sizing is accurate and the fit for me as a L is perfect.

Having owned an Arai RX7 for many years, I was on the lookout for a flip-up helmet to suit a more relaxed biking style. I tried many brands in the shop but discovered the C5 was the best fit and finish compared the Arai. I also considered the LS2 Advant X, but found that the outer shell was just too wide, it made me look ridiculous! Also, the C5 had far less protuberances on the outside to create wind noise.

Now, this decision to go with Schuberth was reluctant as I'd always thought they were a bit expensive, but I was pleased to see this white version had a significant cost saving. So, pros and cons:

PROS:

- Chin bar feels more substantial than others, clicks down reassuringly, and is easy to open one-handed.
- Interior is plush and comfy.
- Sun visor is optically clear and useful, especially when riding with lid flipped up.
- Outer visor has clever mechanism so it stays in open/shut position you previously had it in when you flip the front down again.
- Ventilation is good
- Removal of interior pads for cleaning is straightforward
- The helmet is designed for intercom use and comes prewired with speakers and microphone connection for a Sena intercom - but that stuff is removable.

CONS:

- After my first day's ride, there was already a dark chip on the paintwork, and my thumbnail was able to scratch off a teeny bit of paint on the rear vent exhaust. However, white helmets are bound to show battle scars more obviously.
- The sun visor lever is a bit stiff to use, hopefully it will loosen up over time
- The helmet generally seems noisier than my old Arai, but perhaps this can't be helped with flip-ups. I wear earplugs now anyway and have no problem hearing the intercom with the volume up.

NOTES:

- I am no expert, but was able to remove the pre-installed Sena intercom stuff, and then install a Cardo Packtalk Edge instead. This involved shaving off some of the plastic from the removable neck collar, to accomodate the cables from the external Cardo unit going into the helmet. Annoyingly, the helmet has a dedicated place for the boom mic to be installed, but is dedicated to the Sena option, so my boom mic has to be squeezed next to it, between the shell and the cheekpad. However this works, is still comfortable and the mic is still well situated. I've had no problem using Cardo voice commands and being heard on the intercom, even with the front flipped up.

Paint started to chip after a few months
And dark marks appeared in the paint as well
Sportsbikeshop replaced a vent and polished it but no explanation to the dark marks

Very comfortable helmet with excellent side visibilty.
There was problem with the visor and pinlock, which didnt lock or close properly,
SBS replaced both immediately when i returned it to the shop.. Since then it has proved to be very quiet and airy when all 3 vents are opened.
Very pleased with this purchase.

The helmet is both plush and very comfortable, it comes with the ability to adjust many parts of the inner padding to enable a highly custom fit. Generally like all helmets on most rides you'll still need to use earplugs, there is no escaping that on any helmet if you want to keep your hearing.

The C5 helmet offers great protection and noise reduction lift riding to the next level. I am really satisfied with the purchase. Recommend.

I've owned quite a few helmets over the years, and this one definitely beats the others hands down.

The helmet is comfortable on my head and has a premium feel to it. The wind noise is reduced dramatically from my last helmet, which is why I bought this one.

The vents work great and the pinlock came pre-installed. That meant that all I had to do was take off a few stickers to get on the road.

Overall a great helmet.

Only 200 miles but so far not happy Very noisy compared to my two Shoei helmets and a pressure point that is hard to identify . The SC2 controls are hit and miss and reception poor , has a waterfall background noise !!
Chin strap pressures my adams apple if closed tightly .
