Oxford Advanced Expedition MS Jacket - Black

I wanted a warm layer to go under a couple of different jackets. I tried on various slim puffa jackets but they still felt a bit bulky so sent them back to SB. The Oxford is nice and slim… and it is warm in all the right places under the mesh panels of my outer jacket. It also squishes down into a stuff sack in my top box better than the puffa jackets. And it looks good when I’m off the bike. Well pleased

I wanted something for touring that would double up as a light jacket and not look out of place off the bike with jeans, etc. This ticks the boxes. Wore it the other morning under my Rukka Kalix - temperature got down to -1 and this still kept me warm. It has a fleece lining across the chest and front of arms which keeps the windblast at bay and fits nicely under my coat. Would definitely recommend.

Ill likely only use this when touring in the mountains for some extra warmth, but its fantastic quality, much better than RST.

This is a really good quality jacket, looks nice on and is warm and comfortable. Would have got 5 stars if the sizing was a bit more accurate. It was on the small size and had to go up a size but the bigger size was perfect.

Good quality midlayer combined with baselayer, great fit, I ordered my normal size of medium, nice snug fit. I removed the thermal layer from jacket which makes it a lot more comfortable. I found that it was windproof and kept me warm riding in 3 degrees so with windchill no problem. Also I can see it will be a very versatile jacket, useful when moving into more summer type jacket. The full length zip and pockets makes it handy off the bike as well. A good piece of kit.

This, as a mid layer works well. I had a deep suspicion of ‘technical’ stuff like this. But the design and wearability is exactly as advertised. Functional, windproof, fleece lined and warm. They type of layer to have on in the winter, and keep in the top for colder summer mornings under a mesh jacket.
Way better than the old ‘standby’ fleece. Usual ace SBS next day delivery, too.

Great lightweight mid layer jacket. Not too bulky so under leathers feels non-restrictive.

Bought this mid layer in January.. all I can say is brilliant! Why would anyone want to pay £££ more from well known American and Scandi brands perfect under my Klim Carlsbad jacket and also wind proof under a mesh jacket and of course yet again too service from the ultra reliable sportsbikeshop folks

It's clear that a bit of thought has gone into designing this. Apart from the extra panels where you need them, I love the trippy elasticated strip at the base of the back which helps the jacket riding up but also makes sure no pesky draughts trouble you. The thumb holds in the sleeves can be used if you want - I've had no issues putting gloves over them - but equally you can wear it without using them and it isn't an issue. I'm a bit dubious as to where they got the interior fleece material - it reminds me of some rather dodgy 70's sofa fabric - but it works, and it's on the inside anyhow. I also had to go a size up, but the cut is great. Does it work? Almost too well! Be careful not to layer up too much unless it's really cold.

Does what I wanted, keeps the wind off chest and shoulders (with leather jacket). Probably will need an extra layer for winter but this jacket is a big improvement over a hoody base layer only

Tried a few more expensive alternative for fit etc. This felt better fitting & substantial, nice fleece lining. Worn under Gore jacket that is very bearable at 10C - no drafts. Not the smallest for packing, but effective as middle layer or use when off the bike.

Bought as a mid layer garment because what came with my jacket was useless. This Oxford garment is great. I'm 6ft 4 and struggle to get clothing that fits in arm and body length, but this fits great. Nice close fit, keeps you warm and it works well when off the bike as a casual top/jacket.

Not used yet as weather has been warm. Jacket seems well made and think it will be warm. It is quite a trim fit over the stomach but is stretchy so comfortable.
