If it feels like armour in your bike kit then the law demands it is actually proper, protective armour. Here's how to tell how effective your impact protection is...
The medium is pretty loose on my 32" waist, but with braces quite comfortable. Relatively cool in the warm weather, haven't tried them in cold or rain yet. Legs can fit inside and outside boots which is great design.
Excellent value for all year round use.
Good quality, fit well but have not used in the rain yet so can't comment on that.
Bought on the strength of the reviews and the fact that they zip onto my existing jacket (Triumph). Good quality and, for me, a very good fit.
A great fit and well made from good quality materials. I bought them to replace a pair of textile trousers that I've had for years. They will do very nicely.
Nice trousers, fit well, good quality, haven't used the winter lining as they are my warmer weather pair.
Shame though they don't have pockets on the side of the legs, just two little ones up the front. Otherwise can't fault them
After wearing leather gear for years I decided to give a textile touring suit a try. I took the numerous positive reviews and purchased this suit. Overall I'm really pleased as I can get multiple layers underneath to keep me warm. Sizing seems pretty spot on and my only criticism is there are no belt loops to pull the waist tighter once the velcro limit has been reached.
These trousers are brilliant. Very good quality for the price. Removable thermal lining is a bonus. Good protection and as always second to none service from SBS.
In summary the jacket and pants work well as a team, comfy and warm with removable thermals.
Waterproof in heavy rain although they hold water and can be wet all day without a heater so you put a cold jacket etc back on for the return home albeit dry inside it's not perfect for winter (but what textiles are!?)
They look smart, have excellent pockets and adjustability.
I would recommend over my alpinestars summer gear, I'll probably use these in summer as well just remove the thermal liner.
Read down as to why it's a lost a star:
- the first pair was defective, stitched incorrectly on the inside seat meaning the leg was twisted inside and looks fine on the outside so can't even get a leg in! (Sports bike shop free return exchange sorted in 2 days, kudos to them)
- my second rainy 16 mile drive to work I got a wet bum, not so much because they are not waterproof it was because they rode down a little away from the jacket and my bag allowed it to funnel down the back they take AGES to dry without a heater at work so not ideal but still does the job if zipped to a jacket I can't say other textiles are better but a warning for these and the jacket if you do not 100% seal them fully and zips all 100% they will let water in so be careful messing with zips or storm flaps.
