Let us introduce the mesh intercom that costs the same as a Bluetooth system, the Sena ST1...
Customers generally appreciate the product for its ease of setup, clear sound quality, and effective communication among multiple riders. Many find the mesh connectivity and battery life commendable, and the ability to update firmware via a PC helpful, despite some initial download troubles. However, concerns about durability in rain and the cumbersome control unit are noted. Issues with different firmware versions and non-waterproof design also arise. Some find the app cumbersome and USB dependency for updates inconvenient, yet the intercom enhances the riding experience overall.
My first branded unit (previously was using cheap chinese no brand unit), the difference is massive. Sound clarity very good, im really impress how easy and smooth their system is ( to connect with multiple devices like phone & android auto) and mesh is working really good. Been using it daily for couple of weeks, no issues at all. Battery last long time
I invested in the Sena spider ST1 dual pack after a terrible experience with a cheep version that was nigh on impossible to set up and use.
The ST1 is a breeze 1 button to link to your smart phone.
1 button to launch the mesh coms feature, it really is that easy.
Sena app is just as simple to use.
This week the coms feature was used during a 2 hour observed training ride and it worked faultlessly.
Now I fully realise spending a little more has actually been so worth it.
Sena you have this product just right
Great for the money - mesh. Works well on mesh and other Senas.
Bad bits:
It is not waterproof. Mine failed 2 years and 2 months. Very disappointed in the level of effort put into something that sits on the outside of your helmet ..in all weathers. Just managed to repair mine and get it working and waiting on electrical potting gel to try and waterproof the unit.
It doesn't pair with other headsets over Bluetooth - just mesh..
Previously had a Bluetooth intercom and endless problems with connecting to others, so we bought this. Really impressed with how it just works as soon as you turn it on, no faffing around. Range is perfectly acceptable, we just use it for two riders and have never lost connection. Would recommend
Brilliant service from sportsbikeshop,I had a problem with one of the intercom s,sportsbikeshop replaced the units with no hassle pleasure to do business with thanks sportsbikeshop
We finally bought an intercom. At first I was against the idea but as my wife and I go out as often as we can together took the plunge and have to say its so much better than I expected and has made our rideouts that much better. The sound quality is very good. My only gripe with it is that the instructions could have been better.
Shop didn't have stock on a Sunday visit but guy ordered it to be posted out to me . Arrived Monday afternoon brilliant service and product works perfectly.
Easy to setup and install. One tip I read:- as this is a dual set, lay them out and connect/test before installing them as, if they are faulty you will need to return as a set. Tried them with my ride group and great to be able to communicate. Useful to warn of issues with the Road or if you get separated on the ride
I have owned and used Sena intercoms for many years. This is my first Mesh product and the improvements are immediately noticeable. Quieter when no one is speaking and clearer speech so you don't need to turn the volume up loud. I can say this definitively because I swapped out the Arai specific non mesh Sena system in my Tour X4 helmet to fit this, so I did test directly back to back. The new ear speakers were larger in diameter than the old ones but fitted fine in the helmet and were not any thicker. Set up with my riding buddy was done entirely through the iPhone app which was easy. Now when we power up they reconnect quickly without the iPhone. Range seems good, but I have only used with two people so far. My only negative is that this is a bulky unit, with the battery inside the control unit on the side of the helmet. So large in fact that it is now tricky to shut the top box with the helmet inside. I suspect that some of the more expensive systems have the battery separate from the control unit to help this.
Brought as a present for my husband, he's really pleased. Great quality easy to use, quick set up, voice clarity is brilliant.
Had an issue with the first where it stopped charging in just under a year of having it but got a replacement and hopefully this one lasts longer. Love the mesh functionality and the ease of use for music and calls in general.
Simple to use, very effective communication system and using MESH ensures real clarity
Excellent sound quality, easily heard even at motorway speeds and in heavy traffic, very easy to fit and sync with my phone.
Bought 3 of these easy to install and set up they have a good range and upto 60mph you can hear each other clearly with ear protection in the model number sp105 allows you to update through the app so do a bit of research before you buy
Good for inside the city, fairly ok connectivity.
Quite bad quality of sound and mic.
Great value for money, linked up via mesh with all my mates (most are on more expensive Sena intercoms) - some really useful contacts made with directions, but mostly crap banter. Distance is pretty good but clear line of site makes it perfect. Even had some funny interactions with others on open mesh too. Worked well for phone and music too. Really easy to fit and and kept plenty of charge all day.
Early days I've only tried it out twice but it is very clear speaking and hearing and music came through clear bluetoothed from phone.
As usual brilliant service from SBS & very competitively priced,.
Meet the Spider ST1, a mesh-equipped headset with a glove-friendly jog-dial control. Operating exclusively on the groundbreaking Mesh intercom platform, which streamlines rider-to-rider communication. Featuring two different Sena Mesh Intercom™ modes: Group Mesh Intercom and Multi-Channel Open Mesh Intercom. When using Group Mesh, users create a private group that supports up to 24 riders over a range of up to 5 miles / 8 km (min 6 riders @ 1 mi / 1.6 km intervals). Users are invited into Group Mesh, for added control and privacy.
Premium HD Speakers
Superior audio performance as well as physical comfort can both be found in Sena's premium HD Speakers, which are included. The HD Speakers were designed with a low-profile and tapered bevel to reduce the possibility of ear-to-edge chafe, and fit into existing helmet speaker pockets. The HD speakers deliver crisp communication sound quality, with a marked increase in volume, bass boost, and clarity.
Smartphone Pairing & Audio Multitasking
Bluetooth 5.1 allows you to pair your smartphone to the ST1 in order to stream music, hear turn-by-turn GPS directions and take or make phone calls. The Spider ST1 is equipped with Sena's Audio Multitasking™ technology so you can have a conversation via Mesh Intercom™ while simultaneously operating your smartphone's Bluetooth features like music, GPS, or phone calls.
Sena App
The new Sena Motorcycles App gives users a way to visually configure your device settings. Download from the App Store or Google Play store in order to customize a variety of settings and features, including the ability to remotely manage channel settings for Open Mesh, or even setting a private group for Group Mesh.
Unfortunately, the product does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack so you can only use the included speakers.
The Sena Spider ST1 will only connect with Sena and Interphone devices that feature Mesh technology.
This is a Mesh system only and will not connect to other intercoms via Bluetooth.
