Want the lightest full-face road helmet around? Look no further than the AGV K6 S...
Customers are praising the helmets for their lightweight and comfortable fit, often commenting on how they barely notice them while riding. The overall build quality is highly regarded, with excellent finishing and effective aerodynamics that minimize wind noise. Visibility is noteworthy, enhancing the riding experience. Although some mention the lack of a built-in sun visor, customers appreciate the adaptability for sunglasses. The helmets offer good value for money compared to higher-priced brands, making them a popular choice among buyers.
Super comfortable with a nice wide field of view, looks incredible, and the colour is a lot nicer with a deep black compared to the Matte variant, very happy with the purchase.
Brilliant service in store getting sized/fitted.
Really comfortable crash helmet. Quiet at speed with wide field of view. Battleship grey, fun resistant colour. Properly dull Noddoff Grey is not for everyone but I like it.
The helmet looks good and is excellent quality. It's light, comfortable and the visor had a great field of view. The visor locks securely but also stays fixed in position if you want to leave it part-opened. I definitely recommend this helmet.
I recently bought the k3 to replace my old k5 and could not get on with it at all, way too much noise, a draught getting in somewhere going over the top of the head on cold mornings.
Got this K6-s and boy , chalk and cheese, love it ! Way ,way quieter, no draughts , light as a feather , comfortable and excellent aerodynamics , not a bit of turbulence. Only downside for me is no sun visor. But the pros heavily out weigh that con.
Also ,in this colour, a great price !
If thinking of changing helmets and can stretch to the k6s definitely go for it.
Lightweight, safe, nicely built and looking, what do you need more from the helmet
The K6S is quite a familiar lid, having used the original K6 for the last few years. I don't actually believe the perfect helmet exists, but this comes about as close as possible and at a reasonable price point.
The helmet is comfortable with no pressure points or other annoyances that would become problematic on long days on the bike.
Vision is brilliant, the eye port is large and I don't notice any of the extremities of the helmet creeping into my peripheral vision.
Ventilation is good and all the vents are easy to open and close with gloved hands.
Now, I might be in the minority, but I really like the visor closing system - I know it came in for quite a bit of grief on the original K6, but AGV haven't changed it and I really like the way it works, and I don't notice the crosshairs clip when the visor is open - the fact that it's front and centre on the helmet make it easier to open with either hand and the visor can be locked fully shut or slightly ajar for extra ventilation.
The K6S is also pretty quiet as helmets go and reason enough to buy one on its own. The cheek pads have some quite generous pockets built in, great for storing ear-plugs, keeping wires tucked away if you use a GoPro or happen to be a motovlogger (I'm not, but it would be a perfect use case). I've not tried keeping snacks in there yet but that's also a possibility.
Finally, on the good side of things, it's light and I barely notice I have it on. It certainly doesn't cause any issues on long days on the bike and as such would make quite a decent touring helmet.
Now the bits that make it slightly flawed, in my opinion.
The shape around the base of the helmet makes it difficult to fit a comms unit - I know it's prepared for AGVs proprietary comms system, but I use a Cardo like many people and don't wish to be tethered to using a specific system just because it works with the helmet.
The shape doesn't allow easy fitment, the curves don't allow the adhesive mount to be used, because that needs a flat surface, and the clip - while it works - isn't intuitive to fit. This isn't helped by the gasket that surrounds around the bottom of the shell or the way the liner has a hard plastic lip that runs between the shell and the EPS foam - getting it all together and wires routed nicely and without chafing or pinching can be quite a task.
The helmet also doesn't have a sun visor and I'm a bit split about whether I'd want it to have one - a photochromic visor would be the perfect compromise but I'm aware they aren't road legal in the UK, even though AGV does make one for it.
It also isn't as glasses friendly as I think it should be. I'm unfortunate enough to need glasses while riding and getting my specs on and into a comfortable position can be a bit of a problem. A lot of the time I end up with the arms resting over my ears which then becomes painful after a while.
If you wear glasses then I'd recommend trying in store before committing to buying one, just in case. It's possible my glasses are the problem and not the helmet so next time I go for glasses I'll take the lid with me and make sure I find a pair that work with the helmet.
But none of that would prevent me from recommending the K6S to anyone looking for a good helmet, it's about as perfect a helmet of the many I've tried.
Very impressed with my new AGV helmet.
Very light and nice snug fit.
Good quality, premium helmet and very light.
Excellent service from sportsbikeshop.
I’m 58cm and went for the medium. First impressions was its snug fit and how light it was. I’ve used it on several rides and it’s comfortable and it’s quiet. Only slight down side, it’s difficult to put glasses on with the tight fit.
As with any helmet, provided you have the right head shape, as AGV helmets are fairly biased towards oval shaped heads, this helmet should be perfect for you. It’s so light that you forget it’s on, wind noise is minimal, and it is incredibly aerodynamic.
This is my second AGV helmet, fits beautifully and the colour matches my bike brilliantly.
Best road helmet I've ever had. The difference in weight with any other premium helmets is really noticeable. The field of view is excellent, it's quiet at motorway speed (and slightly above), ventilation is really good just by fitting/removing the chin guard the difference is massive. And on AGV website you can purchase the photocromic visor so no more swapping.
10/10
The AGV K6 S helmet is an excellent product. It is so light and comfortable, you can almost forget you're wearing it when you're out on the road.
The 'try or buy' service offered by SportsBikeShop is fantastic. I would always recommend anyone tries a helmet on before buying, but it can be hard finding retailers which have a large selection in store. So it was very useful to be able to order the helmet in to try before committing to the purchase.
SportsBikeShop also price matched with another retailer, making the purchase excellent value aswell.
All in all, a very positive experience!
No regrets getting this helmet. Very comfortable and very light!
Love this helmet. Great fit, comfortable and light. Excellent vision. The vents are good and the visor positions help with keeping cool as well.
I came from a Ruroc Atlas 4 and this Agv feels miles better! It's comfy, the lining feels great and it's very light. Wind noise is ok but I also wear ear plugs. To round it off the colour is amazing.
Many thanks to sportsbikeshop glasgow. I bought an rst paragon jacket and agv k6s helmet. Both fantastic products and very well priced. I was unsure on what jacket I wanted but thanks to the knowledgeable sales team for their advice purchased the right jacket for me. Great face to face sale.
You will be able to fit a Cardo intercom to this helmet.
