You'd be surprised how many riders wear a helmet that's too big for them. Here's how to tell if a lid really fits you...
Having only ever been able to get Shoei to fit my head properly I tried the Schuberth for the first time and found it a good fit. It is well made and the built in speakers and microphone was a bonus, no more fiddling trying to install them. I have found the chin vent is great but the top vent doesn't seem to do much, this could be because I wear a buff which covers my ears and top of head. IThe internal visor works well but haven't tried using it on the move yet. think it represents great value for money. I have no idea if the pin lock works but I suspect it will.
This is my second Schuberth helmet. The previous one was the S1 which I have replaced due to its ago. I like a snug fitting helmet which will not float about on my head at speed but must not have any uncomfortable pressure points. This S3 fits me just as well as my previous helmet which probably means it suits the shape of my head. For me the tinted visor which I can flip down is a must as I don't like squinting in bright sunlight. I am still getting used to the position of the sliding lever for the tinted visor which I hope will start to slide slightly more easily with use. I have only worn the helmet for a few hundred miles so far with the journeys usually taking between an hour to 1.5 hours with the helmet remaining comfortable throughout the journey. The air vents on the S3 are better than the S1, so far I have only used it in the low 20s deg. C but can feel the cooler air flowing around my face / head when I open the vents. With regard to noise, I have a fairing on my bike which probably increses the air flow / noise at head level so I am usually wearing ear plugs. The noise is reasonable up to about 40mph but at higher speeds it gets noticeably noiser but not to an uncomfortable degree. Over all I remain very pleased with my purchase.
Premium quality helmet. Love the fit, visibility and overall quality.
I bought this helmet because Schuberth make a specific performance claim about how much noise the rider will experience. I was not disappointed. It is much quieter than my previous £100 helmet. The double glazed visor is excellent, as is the visor-down ventilation options. The fit is good for me, and spectacle compatibility is good too. For a helmet it wasn't cheap, but compere it to the price of a hearing aid and it is. You only lose your hearing once.
Any regrets? Yes, that I didn't buy it sooner.
There are nine colour schemes and six sizes, so no shop is going to stock the one you want, but the "try and buy" scheme worked well for me.
Buy one - because you're worth it.
Let's start with the negatives. If you want the SC2 comes device you have to pay extra for this as it doesn't come with the helmet. Which means its more of a £700 helmet than 500. But if you were buying a cardo it'd cost you the same anyway..
Pros. Oh so quiet, and comfy I had it on for 4 hours and it was a perfect fit. Is it the most prettiest on the market? Or the most common no. Is it the quietest and comfiest and relatively cheap in price compared to a shoei yes. I dont think ill change from a schuberth anytime soon.
Comfortable and quiet to wear, well made!! Good ventilation!!
What a great helmet the design is amazing it came pre wired for communication devices' and it's so comfortable and lightweight the visor seals so well there's plenty of air vents to keep you cool. In my honest opinion the best helmet I've ever owned
This may not be the least expensive helmet on the market, far from it but you get the comfort and quality you expect for your money.
You also get top notch sound. with harmon/kardon speakers and a microphone built in you simply have to add their mesh coms system by Sena and you have a concert hall on your head, with superb, deep sound.
I normally take an XL or XXL helmet size. In this case I bought an XL. It's so comfortable. Okay so, as usual, the cheek pads arbitrarily tight but I expect them to mould to my huge head and be a perfect fit pretty quickly.
I love the mat finish of my version, which keeps the price down a bit too. There are some really cool versions though.
I can highly recommend this helmet. Of all the helmets I have this is by far the most comfortable and it meets the new safety standards.
Excellent helmet, quiet but I always use ear plugs and exceptionally clear and wide visor. Great ventilation. Now riding with visor fully down when I used to ride with visor cracked all the time.
Very impressed with the fit and finish of this helmet. Not as quiet as they claimed but just as quiet as my Shoei.
The drop down visor is a breeze once you get used to feeling where it is.
The Schuberth S3 - Daytona Red is awesome, looks and feels perfect, was delivered quickly and had to go a size down which was sorted by sports bike shop quickly and efficiently. Only reason for 4* was because despite the built in speaker/microphone I'm spending another £200+ on top of this for the module to make it all work so this is really a £700+ helmet (come on Schuberth selling partially fitted but without the module seems like half a job) but I'm sure once it arrives and fitted to the helmet it'll be a 5*
A top quality helmet that fits perfectly and is super comfortable and quiet.
Having had a Schuberth C3 and C4 before I decided to go for a full face lid for a change and haven't regretted it. Perfect!!
Just out of the box it oozes quality.
All the things you need for comms but a bit pricey.
Comfortable and very good when riding
Technical spec is spot on. The interior is snug and feels great. Sound reduction fantastic. Visor removal so easy and a sun visor that is easy to locate and drops smoothly. Colours fantastic. I took the plunge and brought Comms kit to and it's amazing. I can hear and it's easy to operate
As you'd hope for a premium helmet, the S3 meets expectations. The chin straps are positioned more forward than usual for comfort when wearing, but this does mean they don't help give clearance to your ears when putting the helmet on. No buffeting at all no matter which way you face. Still some noise, but not the high-pitched wind noise of other helmets. Accommodates glasses nicely. Brilliant service as usual from Sportsbikeshop, and gave a price-match.
We only have the race visor option I'm afraid, on Quick Find: 581481.
Find it cheaper at any major motorcycle accessory retailer, online or in-store and we‘ll match it.
