Oxford Lifetime Q4R Quick Release Tank Bag - Black
Customer Product Reviews
The most useful tank bag I have had
Oxford Q4R Excellent quality tank bag With a handy little key pocket at the front and a really good phone pouch so you can clearly see it has plenty of space in side the bag and the quick release is so easy to use ideal for for me for commuting .
Needed somewhere to store quick access items for a Planned ride to Spain, Passport / Wallet / Phone etc. Bag is Sturdy, and despite other comments on here I found the fixing mechanism to be easy to install and great for taking the bag on and off the bike quickly. My only concern is the window in the top of the bag, which is a really high gloss finish, so could possibly reflect light making the screen of your phone or SatNav hard to read, will have to wait for thebetter weather to test this theory.
A Bit Naff
Looking at the pictures this bag looks fine. Quality is very good as well but it is really small and sits very high on the tank. Because it sits on a locking ring on the tank it is convenient to attach and remove but that is all. The pouch for a GPS / Phone is impossible to see if you are tall because it is positioned directly under your chin even if you jam it right to the top of the bag. I therefore found the number one reason I bought it ie GPS to be useless for me. As a small tankbag for keys and phone and bits it is probably fine but tbo sat on my VFR tank it looked a bit daft. Sold it on and got a bigger Oxford Magnetic bag.
Had a magnetic one for years that I still use on my commuter. Decided to go for a tank lock one for my SX. Phone/sat-nav pocket is good as it has foam in in to secure the phone in place. The zips are good quality too and I expect them to last as long as my 10 year old Oxford magnetic bag. Not sure why Oxford don't send it made up with the base from the factory, as there's only one position for it on this bag, but it only takes 2 minutes to screw it on. Once locked on to the ring it's solid and going nowhere. The securing strap is a bit of a faff as it's not a clip in one like my old one, so I won't be using it, opting for the one from. My old bag instead, but I don't think it's necessary to be honest. It's so secure when it's clicked in. Usual good SBS service and typical Oxford product quality. I'm well happy.
Nice bag, shame about the securing mechanism
The bag itself is good and I followed the rather generalised instructions - although I couldn't really find anything to help me work out how the mechanism worked. It was trial and error following what came with the tank ring bracket and the bag. It is completely hit and miss as to whether it engages properly or not so I suspect that there's a fault and I'll have to return it.
Bigger than expected
I needed a tank bag, as I wanted easy access without getting off the bike for essentials and one which I could remove and carry easily. I saw this on the Sportsbikeshop website and thought it would do the job. Well it's a little bigger than I expected & I'm happy with that and access is easy. There is a nice carry handle but no carry strap, which would have been nice. The clear pocket was a little small for my Garmin 5 'Sat-Nav, but my Tomtom 4.5' fits well though the sun shield doesn't help much on sunny days and seeing the screen was almost impossible, certainly when the sun is currently so high. The mounting is a little fiddly and sometimes doesn't engage on the ring and I have to move the release lever to engage the bag properly and I'd assumed it would snap on. Generally I'd say this does what I wanted it to do but could have been better. As usual though Sportsbikeshop gave excellent fast delivery.
Bag appears really good quality. Light in weight and seems very secure on the tank ring. My only small issue is that the securing strap that goes around the headstock could do with a quick release clip as it's a bit of a pain (and defeats the convenience bit) to have to thread it through the rings each time you take it off.
Quality tank bag
Sits quite high up on the tank, but that's due to positioning of the fuel cap in my 2000 ZX6R, nothing against the actual bag. The clear screen is touch screen friendly for phones and Satnavs, there is plenty of space for your day out, spare visor, water etc. All in all, its a great bag for a days ride!
