Rukka Outlast Shirt
Customer Product Reviews
When is the next sale.....
....so I can buy another! After years of wearing cotton t shirts I thought I'd get this for a Spanish trip. Can't quite get my head around how a long sleeve top can be cooler than wearing a t shirt but it worked. Easy to remove your outer jacket too as it doesn't stick to sweaty arms. I washed this every night and it was dry for the next morning. I'm going to buy another one of these on the next discount day.
A versatile choice
Perhaps not the as warm as the merino wool, but very versatile. Stop off at a services for a cuppa to get your fingers warm again and it will store up the heat to feed back to you when you get on your way. Same when you slow down for a town and then head off out again on the open road.
Adaptive heat control
I wore this under a thin, down filled inner jacket, then my normal winter jacket. This setup normally keeps me toasty but overheats really quickly in traffic. The outlast shirt made a really noticeable improvement by stopping the overheating when stationary. To wear it feels like a fitness compression top (nowhere to hide!) but is comfortable and works best in tight contact with your skin.
Impressive base layer
I had heard riders say how good this Rukka base layer was so had to buy one. It is fantastic, keeps me warm and cool at the same time, this is witchcraft! It's typical of Rukka, superbly well made,I have a 46"chest,XL,is a perfect fit for me,it's so comfortable to wear and unlike some base layers I have tried, there are no seams that rub on a long journey. Go buy one. As expected, great service from SBS.Very happy customer, thanks.
Very effective base layer
The best of my base layers, and the one that actually regulates body temperature. The effect is subtle but noticeable. If you commute from cooler countryside into warmer city, and back again, as I do, you will really appreciate it. I have a 41 inch chest and the large size fits just right. A brilliant bit of kit.
Very nice, comfortable, warm
Snug fit, I went for Medium initially but exchanged for Large (I am 41 Chest) so the size is a little on the small size IMO. Feels really nice on, snug around chest and upper body but just right on arms. Worn it a few times Aug/Sept on its own with Jacket and was perfect while riding. Ill definitely buy another as a spare.
Excellent fit, worn for first time on a 200 mile run down to Hastings on last May bank holiday in very hot weather. Remained cool throughout the whole day, will have to wait for cooler weather to test warmth retention but no reason to doubt product will work. Well worth the investment.
So far, so good
Worn 3 times so far at between 0 and 6 deg C ambient temperature. This was my base layer; a thin merino wool jumper on top and then my Rukka Armaxion jacket (no liner - vents closed!). These trips were between 30 and 150 miles and one involved about 30 miles of dual carriageway and motorway. I remained warm. I deliberately stayed togged up for a while in a motorbike dealership, in a Helmet City shop and in a couple of cafes. I can report that I did not become uncomfortably warm. I'll need to try it out in warm ambient conditions to get a real idea whether the 'phase change' property works to keep me cooler. This garment is very comfortable - I didn't think about it at all.
Light and reassuringly comfy
Tried out during a cool morning in London then later in a very warm tube station -- worked well in every scenario thrown at it. Washed using normal program and seems to still be keeping its shape and performance. Spoiled by my scuba diving drysuit thermal technology but went for this as lighter and didn't need it to cope with the same demands on the bike. Summary: Good purchase
Bought both shirt and long johns. I have the Merion wool gear but was interested to see the difference in the outlast kit. So far comfortable all round but it will be a tad warm on hot days. To be fair I only noticed (too much warmth) when standing still or in traffic. I think it will be excellent for over all use in the mountain passes..
