Flipfront helmets are among the most practical options on the market. Let us guide you through the best options...
Customers praised the HJC helmet for its comfort, fit, and quietness, with improved features such as ventilation, visor operation, and integrated communication options. Despite some weight concerns, the helmet balances well, particularly with the flip-up function. Customers expressed satisfaction with the sun visor, ventilation system, and ease of use. Some noted minor issues with visor or chinbar mechanics. Overall, the helmet was recommended as a quality, affordable option, appealing for those switching from more expensive brands.
I always find hjc helmets comfortable.
And the rpha 91 is great!
Has very good airflow and is a quiet helmet compared to my old hjc i90.
I got a tubs and Jackson mount to fit my cardo Edge and it is Very secure.
Overall a very good helmet!
Only downside is I bought mine during the June July heat waves and the hjc sticker which is 3D on this model was lifting away within the first two days. But in usual sportsbikeshop fashion, they handled an exchange brilliantly.
Zero issues with the replacement and I've ridden in all temperatures from UK to southern Europe.
Quiet, comfortable with great ventilation.
Was looking for a flip front helmet and the reviews have not disappointed.
My only minor negative point is that when I close the front the cheeks do noticeably tighten up. I’m sure this will ease off with use. Otherwise very happy.
I like the ventilation, best of any helmet I have owned. The top vent creates air flow I can feel and the chin vent clears the visor. That is handy, since the visor feels a bit flimsy when cracked open. The sun visor is easy to use and covers the entire gap. I found initially it did not feel that comfortable, but after a long ride, it is fine, helped by its relative light weight. It is not as quiet as some testing by a Dutch website suggests, I think the Airoh Commander is till the quietest helmet I have owned.
Very comfortable for me. Easy flip up design with locking mechanism. Carbon looks awesome, although I think chin bar is carbon effect print.
I had a shoei neotec 2 and decided to buy the rpha 91 because of all the reviews, I wasn't disappointed the quality is amazing and the fit is really good I have been riding with this now for around 2 weeks and I have noticed that it is really quiet even at high speeds, also the features are good as well, ie the ventilation and the chin guard that moves out of the way when you raise the visor.
Great visibility with easy to use flip release. Quietest lid I've had and very comfy
Flip face secures easily and securely.
Ventilation actually works and you can feel your noggin cooling off as you slide the air vent open
Visor could be improved with another open tab on RH side
Was hesitant about buying this helmet , being to me a lesser known brand, but hey I’m well pleased, I honestly think it’s better and quieter than my last Neotec 2 , the quality / finish of the helmet is great and is really comfortable, so far , so good .
Positive points first...
Looks smart, ( Carbon & white ) Drop down Sun visor is great, Visor is very good with wide aperture.
Negative points...
Barely any adjustment in the micrometric chinstrap unless your are very skinny..
The comfort material that sits behind the fastner isn't long enough and the fastner digs in your neck ( unbearable after 15 minutes)
There is no popper on the excess chinstrap material ( strange for a £600 lid ) so it will flap about whilst riding.
Not as comfy as a Shoei Neotec and definitely
not the Quality either.
Very difficult to attach your own comms due to
the contours of the helmet.
This was the one that fitted properly, went to the boston store and tried a few on.
its light weight and and works well with the matching intercom
Really comfy quite helmet. The integrated Sena comms you buy separately are rubbish so just get a Cardo. Otherwise it's great.
So far on a couple of short rides (including motorway) this is, as other reviews have said, an extremely quiet helmet. Overall quality is excellent. I’ve own Shoei, AGV & Scorpion helmets as well this HJC is at the top of my list to wear. I would recommend it
This helmet is loads quieter than my last one, but still need ear plugs if going over forty mph, also very comfy. I would recommend HJC to my friends,
This a a top quality helmet. It’s very comfortable, I wear glasses and like most HJC helmets I find them the best for glasses wearers. The finish is superb, the helmet looks and feels premium. The air flow from the vents is really good. I have also fitted the bespoke intercom system, it’s excellent and looks very tidy.
I have had no trouble with the visor staying where I open it.
Would recommend
For those looking at this HJC helmet my head shape fits HJC, Xlite and Nexx so if you get on with them then you’ll be fine with this. It’s a perfect fit, very comfortable and has some great features. The top and rear fents shift a massive amount of air so if you like a cool bonce this helmet will be ideal for you. The flip up chin bar works very nicely and smoothly. The peripheral vision is up there with the best and the drop down visor action is both smooth and mechanically accurate. The weight is no more than other top quality helmets in this price range and it’s not noticeable at all when wearing. It’s an expensive helmet but well worth it and certainly one of the best compared to the equivalents from Shoei, Schuberth etc.
Really impressed with this helmet - very comfortable, great sunvisor and even managed to fit my own comms system within the in-built storage at the back.
Great fit and great style great service from sportsbikeshop
I chose this one primarily because of the reviews saying it was one of the quietest modular helmets around. It did not disappoint. It is indeed pretty quiet, although earplugs are still recommended, like with any helmet. Excellent quality, beautifully made and is a snug fit but still comfy and not too heavy. Visor is a breeze to remove and replace. Not tried the HJC intercom so can`t comment on that.
I particularly like the way the internal visor comes down and moves out a fraction to avoid touching your nose and the fact that it has three settings to choose from.
Ventilation is excellent. Open the top vent and you can really feel the breeze which should be nice in warm weather.
Would definitely recommend.
looks fantastic, very light for a flip lid, super comfortable on, for me was a true size, ive always had a large helmet and this large fits perfect.
This helmet has a Micrometric quick release chin strap
